Well, I have come from the dark side of 2-strokes into the light which is 4-strokes. I had a MX ready Blaster with about a million dollars in it and now I've started all over with an almost stock 400EX. Its got a K&N filter with modded airbox lid, SuperTrapp slip-on, AC nerfs and bumper, and Holeshot/Razr tires. I'm looking into a stage 1 or 2 cam with a rev box, and then maybe some race plastics. Tell me what you think. Thanks, and this forum is great.

Nice bikes... both of them. I made a similar switch a long time ago... 2 stroke bikes to 4 stroke quads LOL. I am digging the AC bumper. I was originally gonna get one and got the IMS instead. I may get one anyway and swap bumpers between the 450s. :D

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately, the pipe has some melted plastic on it, that just doesn't want to come off. I will try to clean it up a bit more though. I'm really liking the Yosh Carbon Fiber pipe. I'm thinking about that.

Clean it up with light grade sandpapers, and then polish it with steel wool. Hit it with mother and let it shine. That goes for everything... engine covers, the bumper, pipe, bar levers, etc. Also, using armor-all on your plastics will really shine them up. Spray it on and let it sit overnight. Some other good sprays (So I hear) that you can use are WD-40 and Maxima makes a really good plastic shine (Great candy smell... use it on my 450s and love it) , but there are quite a few good, well known ones. Will get your bike looking like new.

Also, what kind of conditions do you ride in? If you don't in too much mud, pull that airbox lid off completely. Just make sure to clean the filter often. A friend of mine gained 2 RWHP on the dyno just by removing a modified airbox lid!

carbon fiber looks nice, but it will get holed up because of the heat of the exhaust. they will not last all that long. unless u have money and can replace the muffler, don't get the carbon fiber. yosh makes an excellent ex pipe though

Good lookin' EX and Blaster. I would go with an HMF full system. They sound killer, provide good gains, and the red canister would look awesome on your bike!

I've had carbon fiber silencers on various machines and have never seen one get "holed up".

they kinda just wear away. at least this is what i've been told by people that have owned them and MXA. "We have never gotten more than one season out of a crbon fiber muffler" - MXA

I have never heard of carbon fiber not holding up. But I'll look around.
