I usually grind off the tip of the pin on one side of the chain link so it will just slide off.

take a grinder and cut the end of of the pins. then knock the pins out w/ a grinder

i use a chain tool... it has one bolt with threads on the inside that clamps a c clamp lookin thing around the pin... then you thread the inner bolt down through and it pushes the pin out

You're supposed to replace the clip on the master link but I've reused them with no problems. Just don't bend the heck out of it taking it off.

You can get a chain breaker for $10-$15 and it is very easy to remove links from the chain.

a dremel with a cutting disk also works very well to shear the pin ends

issue with using a dremel or grinder is that if you are cutting x-ring/o-ring chains, it melts some of the rings

A chain break is what you need. And you'll need to buy a new masterlink that fit's your chain.

So you guys are sayin..where the rod comes thru to the link,,its like kinda smashed outwards so it wont go back thru. So your sayin just grind that off to be flush with chain link, and it should slide out..or punch it and it will push thru...So then just take as many links as needed and put the master back on...I have a chain breaker tool but everytime i do it the side of the link comes with it which then puts it in a bind so the pin wont slide out anymore....
