400ex axle in a 300ex ??

will a 400ex axle fit in a 300ex without any mods. i may part out my older sons hybrid 400ex/yz. if i do it has a lonestar plus 4 axle in it that i could put in my younger sons 300ex.

do a search on this site,it can be made to fit with some spacers onthe brake side i think,its been done by somebody on here before though,try a search.;)

You can do it wiht an aftermarket lock down nut, such as one made by RAD. They are wider and will take up the space that the factory nut will not, on the sprocket hub. I did it, with a 250R axle.

im pretty sure that if you use the 400ex carrier with the axle and probally the nut it should work

except the part where the carrier will be sticking out the swingarm.:p

Yeah, you can't put a 400ex carrier ina 300ex swingarm. It's like 1 inch wider.

But the axle will work with the wider lock nut!

Thats what i said. It's not even worth it though, it's not that much wider. i'd rather use a 350x axle. it will bolt right in. It uses 250r hubs though.

thanks for the advice. my deal is i have a lsr plus 4 axle for a 400ex. also if i wanted to buy a used axle its a lot easier to find a used extended axle for a 400 than it is to find one for a 300.
