i just ordered my hotcam stage 2 and i was wondering if someone could explain how to change it out with my stock cam. i am goin to get a service manual but will i be able to do it myself? is it hard? could someone post pics of step by step changing the cam out?

it's not hard to do butif you feel unsure of yourself it's better to have it done for you. just buy a manual and a new valve cover gasket ...then you'll have to check valve lash after you but it in.

When doing DON'T DROP THE TIMING CHAIN DOWN INTO THE MOTOR WHEN YOU TAKE IT OFF THE CAM.

If you do it make sure yo Lock Tight the Cam Sprocket Bolts. At our local shop a kid try to rebuild his 400 and he had the Piston in backwards, and the cam sprocket cam loose messing all kinds of things up.

I just did this with a stage 1 cam it wasnt bad but dropping the chain would be not so good but not all that bad.

When I rebuilt mine last winter, the timing chain didnt drop down, but it came off the gear inside the tranny case. If that should happen, not a huge deal. Remove the clutch cover to gain access to the problem.

Im also in the process of gathering parts for another rebuild with rockers, springs, rings and a HotCam stage 2. Anyways, let us know how that cam performs for you.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out!

The Quad Shop said they dont carry them. I am Racig XC, would a stage 2 be better orwould i need more low end? Does the Stage 2 take low end away?

im not sure if it takes away from low end or not, it shouldnt. i have a t4 which is a great low end pipe so combined with the hotcam that should be a great mix. along with my 14 tooth sprocket
