Who makes between a 12:1 - 12.5:1 stock bore drop-in piston for an 05' TRX450R? The only thing I've seen around is a 12.25:1 HH, but HH is a brand that I do not care for. Other than that, I've seen an 11.5:1 Wiseco and a 13:1 JE, but not much in between.

Trying to go big, but on 93 Octane :).

Thanks for any help.

Have you ever looked into LASLEEVE products? If not i suggest that, because i think i saw a 12.5:1 in their magazine. Hopefully i this has helped.

I use the HH and it's a great piston. It is made by CP Pistons, one of the leaders in piston manufacturing. IMO better than Wiseco. I love it, revs fast, no oil consumption, super trick piston. You can run 93 on it no problem. Highly recommended. BTW, the 12.25:1 HH is a highly copied piston design sinces it's release and you can get it from several cmpanies now.

CP lists a 12.0:1 94mm in their catalog.

That is a copied form of the HH. CP does not sell the HH but they do make it. A company called VCP sells the piston exclusively. You can get in touch with them through www.trx450r.org and I think they have a couple ads in some magazines. The blackwidow is sold by baldwin I think, don't know, but it is supposed to be a copy of the HH. 12.25:1 2 ring piston with gas ports.

yeah i wouldn't hesitate running the HH or the blackwidow. basically, the black widow is a "newer" HH. i have ran both pistons and they both worked great. the HH only has one compression ring for less friction. i ordered my BW with 2 compression rings just to see if i noticed a difference.

notice anything different between the two? I really like mine and prolly wouldn't change but am always up to hear about another. Does the three ringer come with gas ports still?

well installed a ported head at the same time. the BW does not use any oil that is noticable. the HH may lose an ounce or two after a full days of riding....completely normal for a racing 1 compression ring piston. so it is definately faster with the BW but that is probably from the head. the BW is probably heavier. it does not have the under dome milling and it also has a thicker/heavier piston pin. i am not sure why he did this and it kind of made me mad at first. it still has the gas ports and stuff. i actually have pics on my other computer. i can show a side by side view when i get on that computer.
