10w30 in the 2007 Transmission?

just picked up my new 2007 and the manual says 10 w 30 for the tranny. I called the dealer to comfirm and they say yes only run 10w 30 or 10w 40 in the tranny. They also said that both the motor and tranny oil go to the same place and are not seperated as on prior models they just get put in in different places.... Can anyone confirm this?

:huh that dosent sound right. y would there be two oil fill places if they are not seperated? but i have heard of people running 10w-40 in the trans before so it would probaly be alright.

I don't think that's a good enough reason to say he's wrong. On my 400 I have to drain the oil in two places, so where do I put my tranny oil in???:o :huh

dude, you dealer is a douchbag. 2 places to fill. one on the left (when sitting on it) for the engine, and one on the right for the tranny.And I personally don't run 10-30 in the tranny, I run about 10-80 Spectro tranny oil.

I always ran the honda 2 stroke gear oil in the tranny but now the manual and he dealer say only 10w40 or 10w30 oil. i always thought that the entire porpuse of having the oil and tranny fluid seperated was to eliminate any cross contamination. But now they say different, is this correct?

You can run the Honda tranny oil still. I run the HP trans oil in mine.

yes,thats correct..I think there saying the same oil,meaning same weights....misleading people....I would think a heavier oil in the tranny side would help the gears,but I geuss honda knows whats best for the newer engines...
