on a quad it is a thing the makes a stock muffler quite.

It's a device that fits into the silencer of an exhaust to restrict the flow of gas. Noise reduction is generally the goal but sometimes baffles are used to fine-tune performance. They can be of a variety of designs. Stock sliencers usually have a series of non-removable baffles. Some aftermarket silencers have a single removable baffel often called a "quite core".
