Hey i was wondering what the best pipe for bottom end is for a 400EX that wont set me back $800 or so. How are the HMF's?

Sparks isnt the best bottom end pipe, but it feels like it has as much or more power than the HMF all around. My brother ran a sparks and a hmf on his stock motor, the sparks ripped but was a little loud and neighbors didnt like it. If you want a cool looking pipe check out nmotion pipes, they offer a 9 and 12 inch can and I think have a quiet core and spark arrestor. Ive got a 9 inch can and its louder than a sparks but the 12 inch is probably pretty close.

thanks guys. now could you help me with another issue?my spark plug is really hard to screw in right and ive tried literally over 40 times and its the same thing at every angle itll go in really nice and then it will get harder and it just stays at that same stiffness for a long time until its tight. and also my quad rattles like the cam needs to be adjusted. anybody know what the stock cam clearances are supposed to be? thanks

Well if your valves are loose, you will hear that. You are going to want the owners manual to do that. Ive tired doing things without the manual and its not worth it. It gives all the specs on the valves, how tight to torque the retainers, etc... Its isnt an easy or fun job so if you dont feel comfortable Id take it to a shop.

Another thing it could be is your cam chain could have stretched over time or the cam tensioner could be going bad. Id check that out before riding anyone. A bad cam tensioner can do alot of damage to your motor, as well as loose valves or loose or old chain can possible break.

As for the spark plug, use an old spark plug, spray wd40 all over the thread then screw it in. Sometimes carbon and junk collects around the threads. I say use an old plug cause you dont want wd40 on your new plug.

You might want to try wd40 the threads 2 or 3 times until is feels better, maybe try to get rag in their and clean it a little.

Were you having a seizure while filming that?? :D JK

That's a good clip for sound though. A lot of people seem to love HMF's. Good pipe for the money.
