06 shock on a 05 rear end?

what will happen if i run a stock 06 shock on an 05 rear end? will it work alright or will it just ride stiff?

hmmmmm! not exactly what i wanted to hear . has anyone tried it and did he tell you why it wouldnt work? what about a revalve?:

i bet it will work just not how you want too. just a guess....i think the 06 shock is longer if i remember right.
