I've had the vapor for a while now. Great functionality for the money. I really like the external and coolant temperature guages, the tach recall and of course the run timer. Really all the functions are sweet. On the install I'd suggest using some loom or heatshrink to protect the tach and power(if you have 12VDC) wires.

Unfortunately I've already broken mine. I cracked the lens and now the display barely works. Thinking about calling TT to see if I can get a replacement.

it mounts up ANYWHERE on the bars pretty much, you just have to play with the mounting brackets that they give you. i Just put one on my 450 and i love it, its fun to look at.

I wasn't sure I liked the TT bar clamp and key relocator when I viewed them on their site but after getting both I can tell you they are very nice.

FL, You can take a look at my setup at the Dunes on Sat. if you make it and still haven't received yours. I ordered my tach direct from TT on a Monday and had it by Friday.

HRC_rider,

I see you have our bar clamp. That means you can mount our aluminum guard for Vapor to prevent the unit from breaking if you roll or ........

Send your unit in, we will put a new screen on it, no charge. Buy a dashboard for $49, it will mount to your bar clamp and we wont have to do this again.....

i just got mine yesterday and got it mounted. sort of. i didn't mount the engine temp lead as i am not ready to cahnge my anti freeze yet. everything elses i sweet.

i will be ordering some bars, the clamp and the dashboard as soon as the wife gives me some money again:cool: she says there are other things we need more that that right now...i am sure i don't know what she is talking about...

anyway...set up and installation was a lot easier than the endurance computer that i have on the wifes 400ex

ok i got mine today, but what setings are you using for the rpms in the setup? I think you have .5-2 to choose from?

trailtech

Leave it at the default setting of 1.

ok i am a lil confused. I set everything up and it seems to be working fine. But when i check the screen that shows maximum speed and rpm, the speed seems ok, but the rpm read 18,540. When i watched the rpm gauge while i rode it it only went a lil over 9000. I reset them and tried again, same numbers, 18,000 something. Am i missing something?

Has anyone seen the one from Service Honda, is the vapor supposed to be better?

Your max rpm issue is likely noise. Make sure the tack wire does not pass near the coil after leaving the plug wire. Also stay away from the lighting wires. One extra pulse can cause the max rpm to be way off.

The Z400 X-Bar mount looks impressive.

Can TT make one custom for me like the one pictured that will fir my 04 TRX450R with 7/8" bars?

tt,
can i connect the tack wire to the coil wire? Or does it have to be wrapped around the spark plug wire?

trailtech

You need to wrap the tach lead around the coil wire. This needs to be between the coil and the spark plug. This is the only section of the coil wire that is high voltage. If you try to connect between the coil and CDI, it will not pickup as this section of wire is low voltage.

Is there some reason as why my question to Trail Tech above has not being addressed?

please advise.

Chad502,

Sorry, it was off-topic so I did not answer.

Custom parts are very expensive. Yes, we can make it but the cost will go up by more the double.

Your looking at 600-800 for 3 clamps. Low volume is not our specialty.

08-24-2006, 11:16 AM
here it is in action

the rattling you here is the mounts for my prm chassis plate...i had taken it off to cahnge the oil and had not put it bcak on yet...the mounts were sitting loose on the frame

i have not installed the engine temp sensor...i am going to wait to do that when i change the coolant...

whats the easiest way to hook up power for a 2005 450 R ( of course, kick start ). I'm not really savy at running power & wanted to know the best way to splice in, as the directions tell you nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanx

strip the power leads back about 1/4". unplug the capacitor under the hood and push the wires in the connector (Green is ground). Plug the capacitor back in.

Done.

thank you, but again, i'm retarded when it comes to this stuff. looking under the top cover, I see 2 wire harness plugs. can you please tell me exactly which one I need to mess with. if solid green is ground, which one of the bunch is power. sorry for the idiotic questions, but again, me & power dont mix.

thanx again,
chap
