So, if 450R stock shocks will fit a 400 (with a little grinding), why wouldn't aftermarket 450R shocks fit a 400? For example, Fox Racing only offers their Float X Evols for the 450. But if you apply the above logic, why wouldn't they fit (with a little grinding)?

Dunno but if you have any 450r aftermarket shocks laying around or available to you please try.

wise @ss....

lol

No one said they wouldn't, but I've never heard it did. More aftermarket shocks are available (new & used) for the "R". It'd be nice to have the option of buying them as well.

Well let us know if you do end up finding out for sure but they should fit (with a little grinding).

Well for one, 400EX shocks are not the same length as 450R shocks. My buddy has a 400 will full Elka's and test fit them on his 450R and said they were too short and didn't feel right.

You're asking the reverse, 450 on a 400, so with slight modifications, they'll probably fit, but they're still going to be too short.

Dont you mean that they will be long because you said that on the 450r they were short so the opposite of that would be that they are too long right or did I miss something

I assume he meant they would be long, so would that just affect the stance of the bike? Would it just sit taller in front? If I went with a wider set of arms would it even it out? I'm totally sold on the Fox X Evols so I'm really hoping that I can get them to work.

You know what that isnt a bad idea if we got all of the measurements worked out we could have cheap long travel shocks. Because aftermarket standard travel shocks for the 450r would be much cheaper then Long travel shocks for the 400ex.

Ok, so everyone that wants to know, just send me $50 each, and I'll buy a pair, and get them all dialed in!!:D :D

Anyone else got an opinion? Would this work?:huh

Yeah sorry I guess I didn't make that real clear. My buddy with the 400 and the 450 said that the Elka's on his 400EX were too long for his 450R, so buying 450R shocks for a 400EX would make them too short, which would adversely affect the stance and handling. Short shocks are going to make the quad sit lower and put the a-arms at a "flatter" angle so you might not get the ideal performance out of the shocks.

I agree though that the Float Evol X shocks are awesome and they will probably make it onto a future quad of mine.

By chance does your buddy have long travel a-arms on his 400ex and he put the lt shocks on stock 450r a-arms. Just have to ask to make this clear.:ermm:
