I love hunting season. I go rabbit hunting, squirrel hunting, but my favorite deer hunting. Nothin like bein out in the woods by yourself for a while then goin to check out your grandpa in another stand and exchange stories of what you both saw (turkey, muskrats, bobcats, small deer etc. ) Oh yes nothing brings my grandpa and I closer than the country life. I love it. I wish that everyone could experience that kind of bonding.

I hear ya pappy. But It make me wish it was Nov. and I'm sitting in my stand. Find your "happy place" pappy,It makes me feel better.

Bow season comes in sept 30th here in Oh, I'm thinking it's alittle early but I hear about people with luck that early. To many skeeters in the woods at that time for me.

So...what kind of bow does everyone shoot? I shoot a Bow Tech Mighty Mite. It's the generation before they went to the parallel limb technology.

I'm old school, High Country power force. 265 fps set on 66 pounds. Not too bad for a 7 year old bow.

I personally think people get caught up into fps to much....Bow Tech Black Night for example...350 fps.....wicked fast but does'nt shoot for chit in my opinion. I'm shooting about 285fps with my hunting set up, that's still quick for a hunting set up but i also carry different broadheads with me. I've shot bucks before that completely blow through them....although that sounds cool, i could have pushed a much larger broad head through and the animal would have went down sooner. I lost alot of energy. Now i shoot a 2 1/2 inch expandable up to 40 yds, anything past that i shoot a fixed blade Muzzy.

I have had nothing but trouble with expandables. I shoot 100 grain. slick trick four blade broadheads. Straightist shooting broadhead i have ever shot and cuts a good hole.

i shoot a reflex excursion...i like it, not the fastest, but i think one can get too fast...

Parker "buckhunter" shooting carbon express with thunderhead broad heads. Fast enough for me (to lose sight of my arrow as soon as I release).

I'm getting pumped .

Partridge (grouse) season opens up in the middle of September , along with Moose season .

I'm anxious to try out my new .410 that I got for my birthday this year for partridge . I still have to setup my Grizzly for the hunt season though .... gotta buy a gun rack for it .

I use an older Matthews MQ1 set at around 70lbs shooting Thunderhead 100s. Definitely not the trickest setup anymore but it shoots extremely well (better than I can). Maryland's season starts on Sept. 15th but I hunt the swamps and marshes of the eastern shore so the bugs are horrible in the beginning. Mid October it starts to become bearable. I can't wait!:D

Not bashing, but the Reflexes dont shoot anything like a Hoyt Trykon. I have shot both, reflex doesnt compare. Either way, they both kill game. The shooter is more important than the bow. :)
