Use a quality screw driver. I use all Craftsman tools, but as long s it is good quality you should be good.

I got all of mine out except one when I was re-jetting, stupid things strip out WAY too easily. I ended up having to drill the head off, then replacing the screw:grr

If you do strip the screws, get a Dremel with a cutting wheel attachment. Be careful and cut a slit across the head without going all the way through. Just enough to get a standard screwdriver in there. I have stripped three screws and that method works good. So good, that I am still using the screws today.

These screws are made of brass so they stripeasily because it's a soft metal, I use needlenose vise grips and just get it lossened then use a screw driver. Hope this helps.

all u need is a quality screw driver put it in and tap it with a hammer a few times to loosen it up...worked perfect...thank 2r's rider for that tip.

The guys are right, you MUST use the EXACT size screwdriver or your gonna screw yourself.

I used vise grips to loosen the screws.

I used to have this problem when I had a street bike with 4 carbs on it (16 screws) so before I let it happen to my 400EX I took out the screws carefully and went to a local screw & bolt shop and got exact replacements in stainless steel with allen heads. I think it was less than a $1.00. I also did the same for the throttle cover and the brake fluid reservoir (recessed allen heads).:D
