Should I look into getting a borekit for my 300ex or no? Whats the best bang for buck hp to keep up with those lightly modded 400s? Also what brand kits are reliable and the most powerful, and where to get them, THANKS

A lot of guys on here have the 330cc kit on their 300ex's. Its very reliable and I heard no negitive issues about it.

Check out Four Stroke Tech (www.fourstroketech.net) or Powroll (www.powroll.com) for big bore kits on the 300ex's.

Hope this helps.

Where do I get a 330 kit and how does it compare to powroll and four stroke tech? Which is better out of those two is the four stroke tech worth the savings in money?

i'd go FST, he does a lot of them. powroll will only sell you parts or stroke your crank, they won't bore or install your sleeve. have your head done too and run FST's cam for max gains.

Curtis Sparks also makes a great 350.

But, you're going to be spending a LOT of money to keep up with a lightly modded 400ex. Just a piston & sleeve isn't going to cut it.

Your going to need new gearing. A pipe and filter and a cam. Look here (www.magicracing,com) for the filter cam and gearing. I love my Sparks X-4 exhaust (http://www.sparksracing.com/frame_1.htm) . If your looking for the most power out of your machine go with a K&N air filter, if not go with UNI. But if you trail ride I'd go with UNI, if filters more well.
All and all you might as well sell the 300ex and with the money you want to put in it just go and buy a 400ex IMO

If your gonna 330 it or 350 it get it done by FST, porting also, cam, bigger valves. From what i've learned on here there is no reason to do a big bore on a 300ex unless your opening the thing up with all kinds of mods.

Im currently getting a new hd rod kit for my 385 motor, but i have my stock bore back up motor in for now and with just a 400ex carb and a exhaust system,it runs pretty darn good.Im not in as much of a rush as i thought id be to get my main motor back in.I can still wheelie at will and climb just about any hill i dare to tackle.Im 33 yrs old and 6'1 210 lbs too.;)

I would look at Ritter Cycles he does great work. He does it all from minor mods to a 352cc big bore stroker kit. He bored my bike out to 300cc with oversized valves with a high rev cam, and ported and polished the head, and in a drag I beat 400ex's unless they have engine work done to them. He is a great guy but he does have a lot on his plate, so the best time for him to work on your bike is in Oct or Nov. His web site is www.rittercycle.com Good luck.
