steering stem please help!

heres the problem my steering stem is loose and the guy i bought the quad off of stripped out the bolts to chasis skidplate and i cant get to my steering stem to tightin it, is it bad to leave ur steering loose and will it cause problems in the future.

i dont kno if it will cause problems, but i wouldnt leave it lose it cant be too safe like that.

Can you cut the heads off or drill out the bolts that hold skid on to remove it? I wouldn't ride with it loose either.

I'm assuming it's loose with up and down movement?

no its only side to side its not to loose.

You can use a holesaw to open an area just below the stem nut....


But it sounds like you may need to remove your front fenders and check your stem bushing

Does the stem itself 'wiggle' or do the front tires not turn at the same time as the bars?

If the tires aren't turning at the same time as the bars the tierod ends may be loose at thier mounting points.

If the stem itself wiggles the it's probably the upper mounting bushing like Pappy mentioned.
