I run it in a 400ex, no problems so far. If you use the correct type of Amsoil it shouldn't be a problem. I'm using the 10/40 Motorcycle Engine Oil. No friction modifiers in this oil.

I was told not to run synthetic oil in the 400 because it causes the clutch to start slipping because the cluch is bathed in the same synthetic oil. they said it would be ok for a while but it would eventually ruin the clutch

Has anybody seen or used that amsoil 100:1 for 2 strokes ??? I don't think I could make myself put only 1 part oil ????

Go to their website and look for your self if you need more info. It is wet-clutch compatable, made for motorcycles, no friction modifiers like in automotive oils. I use it with no problems, my friend uses it in his moded Banshee and CR250. It works great.

As far as the two stroke oil, use the 2000 series at 50:1 ratio. Do some research and see for yourself, it's good oil.

I run the amsoil 20-50 v twin in my 2000 400 ex with zero problems.
If you go to there web site you can get info on the different characteristics and see how there oil out performs mobil 1.

There are so many good synthetics out there now, I'm not sure you and I could tell or see the difference if we tried them all.

The main thing is they way out perform petroleum oils.

I have had bad luck with full synthetic oils in the past. I run castrol SEMI-synthetic motorcycle oil.

My clutch doesn't slip and I run Castrol Syntec oil. I mean its a hell of alot better than Honda junk or any dino-oil.

The reason you dont want to use synthetic oils in some dirt bike applications is they use a chome plated cylinder wall and the syn oils slips right off the wall after shutdown and cold starts there is no lubrication.
