my friends ex was just rebuilt and it starting ticking real bad....i did the valves and that wasnt the problem...thinking it might be the timing chain...could this be why it is ticking so loud....

im wondering that too, i got my valves adjusted and its still ticking real loud. i was thinking that i need new valves or sumthing like that but idk

Everytime you rebuilt a engine I would always put new vavles in it. Since you don't need to rebuild a engine very often then you might as well start out brand new everytime. Instead of just piston and rings.

i have a low low ticking but ur supposed to have it.

Did he remember to reset the timing chain tensioner? Is he getting oil to the top end? Are the valves in spec?

i just finished my 440kit and was ticking noise but i adust valve to the valve cover and valve was all lose after i thight the noise whent away

get a heavy dutey timing chain and replace the time chain

yeah i have the same problem I just got mine rebult to a 416 and now i have a loud ticking noise and i do think that its the valves bc I just adjusted them.

it could be the valves but im thinkne its the timing since it was just rebuilt. if a profesional person instals it they normaly get the valves right. but id have the cam chain checked u dont want that puppy jumpen time

You guys might want to check the rocker arms. My 416 starting making a noise and i adjusted the valves put a HD timing chain in it and it was still making the noise. You may want to go with hardend rockers!
