this deffinetly looks like a promising machine. Polaris "claims" it is the fastest accelerating quad out right now. i am not sure how true that is, but talk is cheap; lets see some drag/dyno results. sounds promising though.:D

This is the write up on it.

Minneapolis, MN (8/01/06) - In 2006, Outlaw revolutionized the high-performance market by being the first sport quad with independent rear suspension (PRO IRS); for 2007, it’s also the fastest.

As part of Polaris’ strategic alliance with KTM, the Outlaw 525 has a powerful 510cc KTM engine, is leaner at 395 lbs. and is the fastest accelerating production ATV available.

“The Outlaw 525 is the first ATV project where Polaris and KTM engineers worked side-by-side to create a new product,” said Mike Dougherty, general manager of the ATV division. “Coupling Independent Rear Suspension with a lighter, more powerful engine creates the ultimate trail sport quad.”

In its inaugural year, the Outlaw received many accolades including ATV Guide’s 2006 ATV of the Year-Sport & Performance, ATV Rider’s Sport ATV of the Year and All-Terrain Vehicle’s 2006 Best New Concept. Polaris revolutionized the sport quad market by being the first to offer IRS on a sports quad, but also saw opportunities to enhance the machine. Due to dealer, customer and editor feedback, Polaris teamed with KTM to create a second Outlaw model.

Best known for its racing heritage, Austrian-based KTM is a premiere motorcycle manufacturer that designs, engineers, manufacturers and markets high-performance off-road and on-road motorcycles. The company has won 96 world championship titles and is known for building motorcycles that are “ready to race.” KTM’s “Ready to Race” engine technology combined with Polaris’ leadership in ATV suspension made it evident enhancing the Outlaw would be first collaborative ATV project for the companies.

Polaris and KTM went straight to the heart and increased Outlaw’s power while decreasing the quad’s overall weight. Outlaw 525’s high performance, 4-valve KTM engine (OHC with roller rocker lever) is lightweight and features 510 ccs with an 11:1 compression ratio and a 39 mm Keihin FCR-MX carburetor. With proven performance in motocross and off-road racing, the KTM powerhouse has been heralded by some in the racing community as being one of the best motorcycle racing engines ever created.

In addition to the KTM engine, the Outlaw 525 has a new 5-speed transmission with reverse and a hydraulic clutch for a smoother ride. The quad also has all the features that made the Outlaw famous including a PRO (Polaris Rider Optimized) IRS system, dual A-arm front suspension and an aggressive body style to fit the sport rider.
