That would depend on who you ask...

Everyone who has a 660 will normally say it is faster and then the ones with 450 will normally say theirs is faster.

^^^haha. For the most part that prolly is right. So you prolly won't believe me. But what the hell i'll tell ya anyhow.

From experience....I would say the yfz has much better acceleration. But, we draged in about a 100yd. field, and when the raptor's hit 5th gear they pulled away. The acceleration in the yfz is mostly due to them being able to start a drag in second with good power, whereas the raptor's usually have to start in 1st.

my personal experience. My yfz beat my buddies' 660 in a drag everytime we raced. As far as top speed the 660 is faster. Most of the time he didn't get past 4th gear before he ran out of drag strip.I am in 5th 3/4's down the track.

^^I had very similar results. But since our drag strip was so long, the raptor would catch the 450 in 4th, and stay in the lead in 5th.

Most drag races aren't going to be that long! Both quads would have to be in 5th gear for a good long while before the Raptor would catch up.............so the YFZ is definately faster! Stop BSing yourself. The 660 is no speed demon in stock form. I know, I had one. Now pipe and intake both and (if you know how to jet the 660 right) they will be even until the 660 hits 4th then its goodbye YFZ!...........I know, I had one........:D

You may have had one, but i own one now. My raptor does not need to be in 5th gear long before it tops out. Plus when i raced the raptor passed the yfz in high fourth.:chinese:

i dont know why you would start a drag in first on a raptor, that thing is a wheelie hound

if u start in second it will just bog ecause it is geared so high

i dont know what raptor youre riding but my 05 would wheelie all the way through 4th if you started off in first. oh because you have a honda! The 400 ex does better in a drag than a yamaha starting off in 1st but for the raptor and most bikes 2nd's fine

my 2nd gear starts are in sand also where it requries more power and has more drag....

you just gotta know how to work the clutch... i dont just flat out dump it all at once... and i get dang good launches...

thats probably your problem- you just dump the clutch....

katch26

thats how I use to drag mine. Lean all the way over the front and just giver hell. Front end would still wanna pull up and it felt like it was floating till about 4th but still came out of the hole like a rocket.

why, it works great on the 400ex, the revs don't drop and the tires start spinning.

on the raptor the tires just grab and dump u off the back

the 400 is a totally different bike its got no balls (stock). You have to sit on the gas tank and kinda lean over the bars, but i weigh over 200 so it may not work as well.

that's what i mean. it works with the 400(which has less power), but i can't get it to work with the rappy. i thinh it is the gearing on the raptor

well soldier Ill tell you I owned a 660 (older model) and loved the power and smoothness but wasnt thrilled about the suspension and tippy feeling, or the thought of having to tune 2 carbs. Yamaha fixed all those problems and upped the cc's to boot. I think youll have a hell of a bike when you get back. Hooah!
