I just want to make sure I am doing this right

I have never change the oil in a 400ex so help me.

I have change the oil in a KFX similar I am guessing

I drain the oil out of the oil resivore. (the thing in front of the engine) Sorry It is late and I can not think of what it is called.

Then drain the crank oil. The bolt underneath the quad

Then Change the Oil Filter.

Isn't there another bolt you have to take off?

Also do you put some oil back the case before cranking? (the KFX you don't) or do you just put some back in the Oil Resivore and it will suck it in?

Thanks

Sounds like you got it. Refill through the oil tank.

You don't have to add oil to the crankcase directly. Fill up the oil tank, start the engine, let it run for a minute or so, and then refill the oil tank to the appropriate level.

Thanks All. But isn't there 2 Bolts that drain the oil out of the case?

There's only 1 bolt on the engine, under the shifter. Drain the engine and oil tank at the same time, and while they are draining change the oil filter out. Then fill the oil tank up. Usually I put in 1-1/2 quarts and started it real quick to get oil back in the engine, then finish putting the rest in. If you don't run it a little sometimes the oil tank overfills, what a MESS that is!

LOL I am needing to change the oil in the KFX and 400ex. For some reason I thought there was 2 bolts on the engine. So I was doing it right:D

There's 2 bolts on the EX oil filter cover, DO NOT overtighten them, hehe. Just snug em up with a nut driver, not a rachet.
