ive got holeshots, and yes i will officially start the neatvmx series next year

:D I race NEATV-MX. Don't worry about tires or sprockets for your first couple races. Just go out and focus on riding your best without getting hurt. Most importantly have fun.

Most people run holeshot mx or grooved radials up front, or holeshot mx or turfs in the rear. There are several other tires out there on the track, but those are the most common. I prefer stock gearing on my 400.

There is only 1 race left at Jolly Roger and 1 race at Southwick. You should try to make both races. That will help you a lot for next season.

I agree with everthing redrizzasaid, especially try not to get hurt.

I also like the stock gearing.

I run both hole shots and turf tammers. Hole shots in front usually with turf in rear. But when they forcast possible rain i put holeshots in rear.

What class you planning to race? i race 4 stroke novice and open novice. In the 4 stroke novice i really try and in the open I just go out to have fun, seem like in the open class they are a bunch of animals that like to play bumper cars. Hopefully i can pullout a top 10 in 4 stroke novice so i can go to amature next year with out having to qualify all the time. I was one position away from qualifying last race. I am in 8th right now.

I use a diffrent tire than most at southwick. I use razors 20" tires because southwick gets so rutted. I don't think you need the little MX Tires. I had 18" holeshots and didn't seam to hook up as well as the razors. I have found hondas right on the money at southwick for the gears .

Hey thanks for your advise not sure if ill make Jolly Roger "well to race anyway" but i am looking foward to southwick, as far as not getting hurt been there crashed that and dont plan on doing that again ;) i think i'd be better off in the novice class just so i can learn the ropes id like to run the over 30 class maybe next year have any of you guys made the trip to uxbridge motorsports park? i live out eastern part of Ma and if any of you guys want to come for some pratice let me know ill meet you there. hey can you guys tell me a place that you can get grooved radials fronts i never see them for sale any where online? I run 20" razors now and i did notice how rutted southwick gets at the end of the day so i think ill stay on the 20" tire's at the rear but i need to do something up front right now i have the stock honda tires. I just got my new Works triple rates for the front sould be getting a new rear soon id kinda like to have it before i start racing. anymore words of advise would be very helpfull;) Thanks Guys

I was at uxbridge all day thursday. Was going to go today but they forcasted rain.

For your grooved radials call K and K ATV They usually stock them, i saw some when i went today. www.kandkatv.com

I have to try that place. Is it fun? Is there a lot jumps. What kinda of jumps do they have?

EX 80
08-25-2002, 03:43 PM
They have mostly table tops. If the track is not groomed you can't really jump anything, but when it is its sweet. Its mostly dirt bikes that go there. heres a pic from me there on thursday.

as far as Uxbridge vs Southwick is southwick about the same distance i know southwick is like 1.25miles around have not been to Uxbridge sence last year. I noticed they have changed direction on the track dose it seem any better? I have been wanting to head over there but all the guys i ride with afraid to go there bunch of f'n wimps. just because i broke my collor bone there last year and **** that was my owen dam fault not the tracks that and they all hate the idea that my EX might be better on the track then there quads :devil every time they start braging about how fast there's is i just say lets head to uxbridge and find out and that usley shuts them up.

Ok back to important stuff it's 3lap's for novice class right? I have been riding every chance i get i have a little 1/2mile track that i ride on and I am tring to get in shape to see if i can make 3laps @ southwick or Jolly Rodger I cant belive how tuff it is riding MX I have a nice 15mile woods run i do and **** that's np but man get on the track it beats the s*^@ out of you

EX 80

I race in the series as well. I run the 30+ class this year. At the last race at Soutwick, I locked up my motor (crank bearing) and have missed the July Jolly race and will probably miss the Sept Jolly race as well. I should (will) have the quad running by the Southwick race in Sept.

Hopefully I will make it Uxbridge some time in Sept to test out the motor and get some practice in before the big race.

How packed is Uxbridge on a weekend? I would hate to take a day off from work to go riding.

09-09-2002, 12:00 PM
Hey I was out riding Sat and ran across some dudes that where saying uxbridge is closed due to another death there they said some guy on a quad landed on a guy on a dirt bike? dose anyone know if this is true, I kinda think it was a trail tale but i know the towns been all over them?

redrizza
09-09-2002, 12:55 PM
Yup. like Knight400EX said, I had two 1st place finishes in the beginning of the day. But somehow got tangled in the first corner in both my second half moto's. I worked my way from the back to 8th in the open, leaving me with 1 and 8 for 4th overall.

In 4stroke novice, I also had to work from the back of the pack, made it to 6th place before I burned out and couldn't ride hard anymore.

BigBore81 I see you and some kid got tangled in that slippery hill/corner up on the hill before the bridge and 3 tables. Bummer man. I got ya this time though, and I had my bad luck that moto too ;-) How did you finish in the Open?

Hey, thanks Knight for bringing the cd's with video of the last couple races, I'm sure everyone appreciated that!

Sick0
09-09-2002, 01:54 PM
Well the Tangle up in the second heat of the 4stroke left a nasty dent in my rim. I got smashed into the wall. Ya Bigbore81 I think had even worst luck than you think. After he got tangle up on that hill. I think he ran into me in a corner. The corner right after the jump that goes under the first bridge. I think it was him. I felt somebdy hit me and dirt go up my *****. Then I seen the flags go up, So I know somebdy had crashed.

I came in 8 th that heat. I seen you pass me, but you to strong of a rider for me to keep up.

09-09-2002, 02:36 PM
Yea well that slippery corner I went over the ****ing thing in my 2nd moto on lap 2. I was running 9th with the guys in front of me getting tired. I landed just before the first big down hill with the jump off to the side. My Teather didn't come off so the bike went into the woods. It was my fault. but I learned alot from it. To add to the fire it was the first race ever that something wasn't wrong with the bike or I was not tired.:grr :grr :grr During practice and the first moto my grips were coming off and I didn't want to crash so I took it easy and ended up 11th.:grr :grr :grr

Yea just the pro's are practicing on sat cause another org is going to race with us. The pres. talked bout it at the riders meeting yesterday. Every class will be taped and most of the riders will be interviewed. and he went on to say watch your actions. He also said addmission is $15 and reg will close @ 9am no excuses cause there is going to be over 500 bikes racing

Thanks,

Looks like I am going to have to talk to Mark about the schedule and telling eveyone that was not at the race.

Does people that are not "invited" pros, but local pros from a different area get to know this stuff. I have heard on another site that some people are coming up from GA. If they want to run pro, will they get to practice?

Now that I'm think, I wonder how many quads are going to beracing in 4stroke novice. There was 46 poeple in the at jr. That going to be out of hand.
When I went to walden there wasn't 46 quad all to gather. Kinda funny. I can't wait. I hope they fix the track up a little, but I know they won't.

I thought that was you behind me. I knew you were going to become and I went as fast is I can. There wasn't really anybody behind thats was that fast so I figured it had to be you. What happen , how did you hit me and crashed.

Yeah dude you should race, the more quads the better. More support for the sport.

I was in redrizza's qualifing, I got 8th. I had to go to the LCQ. I got 1st in that.

In the 4 stroke main i got 16th i think. I was 7th for 2 laps i think. I got hung up 3 times and got passed each times, high sided a few berms. My energy faded real fast but anyway. I got 16 no excuses. :) I don't think Sick0 past me when i was hung up, he past me before i got hung up for the first time. Redrizza just blew by me and befor ei knew it i couldn't see him anymore

None the less it was fun

Ya I had alot of fun. I think 8th place wasn't that bad, was glad to just quafiy right off the bat. There was alot of good rider out there. I thought I was going to get killed. My quafier I had 2 hooked cannondales on eachs side of me. And somehow got the hole shot on them.

Hey i know a lot of you are camping but with the rain heading this way i decided to grab a hotel room about 5 miles from track "maybe be a little more going on what i was told from freind" Hampton Inn if you know anyone looking for a room tell them to book it online, becuase when you call them on the phone there telling everyone there booked, but online it shows the rooms. I called this place and asked the girl and she said nope all booked up so then i went online and made the res and then called her back to confirm and gusse what i had a room they are expecting 225,000 people in that area this weekend with the Big E fair and the basketball hall of fame reopening.

From what I have been reading on the net, Southwick has changed.

The pits are now on the left where you pay to enter the place (little wood shack).

The woods section is going to be different.

The frog pond area (nationals only section) is gone, this is now the way to get to the starting line from the pits.

Then they are thinking about taking a right after the finish line and dropping down into the lower pit area before heading back to the track.

All this is over the land dispute where the current pits are. My understanding is that an old lady in FL owned the land and let the track use it. She sold the land (or past away) and the new owners want to develop that area with nice houses. But the track has a lease with the town for another 3-4 years. So the developers put up the fence and made Southwick cut the locks each time they wanted to use the pits. Southwick has changed!

It was on the NEMX website.

I talked to the guy in the pits last year when the fence was a big issue. He told me about the lady in FL and the lease with the town to run the track.

I guess they have been working all winter including filling in the frog pond area (remember that the bikes have to push) to make a starting area road.

What are you running this year? Sell your quads?

So they are changing it I have heard about this before. I can just see it now this track will be gone in a few years when the houses go up, you know the new neighbors will want the track shut down it's just a dam shame:(

I do not have a story for a link. All my information has come from talking to people that work at the track.

I really do not see Southwick going anywhere. The track has been there for how long? And it is not a private (profit driven) organization, but the American Legion owns the land. They are a non profit based and give a lot of money towards the town to have the races. It places Southwick on the map.

Also, how many houses are there now right down the street? Wouldn't they have complained already and problably won?

OIC. Is there enough room for everyone to park in the new pits off to the left? I never looked over there. You seen how crowded it was for the last race last season I would expect that to be a regular crowd now cause more and more people are signing up.

Yes they have from what I have been told from some locals I know out that way, I will try and make some calls tomarrow and see if I can't get more info on what the town has been up too I was told last fall that they where tring there best to shut the track down but there was some grandfather claus keeping them from doing that:rolleyes:

House being down the street is one thing but if they build them over looking the track then will have a real problem.

Just my 2cents:ermm:
