It takes a long time to find all the parts if you don't buy new doesn't it! I'm still trying to find a an aftermarket frame. Looks like it'll be nice though.

Lookin' good! That Blue and yellow combo is going to look nice!

Have fun mounting the pipe and silencer. I had to make a bracket for my midrange pipe and silencer fit correctly because the normal mounts made the silencer point downward. The bracket is located on the lower tab of the subframe mount.

Just incase you don't know, you will need to drill new holes for the front mounts on the pro pegs.

I guess there are 4 or 5 Arens 250R's on here now:chinese:

wishmasstir
07-31-2006, 09:54 AM
outacontrol - i don't think i'm putting any graphics on them. i'm leaving them on the older set though

250R-Dee - yeah i mocked up the exhaust and the silencer looked pretty bad. did you just make a bracket to move the mount downward? anything else i should know??

i'll lay the fenders on it tonight and snap some more shots...it looks awesome i think.

250R-Dee
07-31-2006, 10:50 AM
yep, I added a bracket that lowered the mounting position of the lower subframe mount.

I also have an AC full skid plate :( . The front mount is way off but I think that's mainly because of my Blingstar bumper. I will need to trim the front of the skid plate so I can make it fit under the Blingstar bumper. After I get the issues in front corrected the rear mount holes on the skid should match the frame's rear mounts. I think I will also have to make a longer cross bar for the center hold-down on the skid.

You seem to already have the required '96 CR250 brake pedal so that should be all.

Here's a pic before I made the bracket for the silencer.

put the radiator and front brakes on it...it sure would be nice to mount my front brake master cylinder onto something...like my bars (matt)

just jokin man...

current status on parts:
in the mail - carb, complete wiring harness, exhaust mounts and springs, rear master cylinder

waiting for the motor to get finished yet

i still need a few things and i got the truck show this weekend...the 13th isn't looking good right now

Here is the pic you requested via PM. I ordered my pedal, spring, retaining bolt and retaining pin from Alba Action last year. The pedal was sitting kind of high in the pic because I didn't bleed the brakes until the next day.

I'll post pics of the bracket for the silencer friday or saturday. My project is stored at my shop on the other side of town and I have a busy schedule this week.

well i finally got my motor back on the 1st of the month...hurray for shops with the fast turnaround, is there anywhere in western pa?? cause i need to find somewhere else to take my business too.

put the motor in the frame and bolted up the rear brake assembly today, hooked up the radiator lines. i have to put the nerfs on it then follow up with the wonderful exhaust. its sooo close now...i'll upload a few pics of it tomorrow, its looking good

wishmasstir
09-10-2006, 03:50 PM
couple pictures of it ... fenders aren't mounted, the front of the skidplate isn't either. i'm still waiting on 2 motor mount bolts so thats why you'll find the screw driver through the frame/motor on the bottom mount. the pipe is being test fitted right now and its not looking too good

man that looks super Nice!!!!

wishmasstir
09-10-2006, 04:34 PM
this pipe has a mount on the top of it and then the 2 on the silencer. its a lrd adjustable...big bore i believe also

it seems to be giving me the opposite affect that 250r-dee was having with his pointing downwards, mine is facing upwards so far. i'm gonna screw in the headpipe some and see if that'll help it at all. its all just mocked up for now since i'm waiting on those 2 motor mount bolts, nowhere in western pa has a m10 x 140mm long bolt

The weather is crappy right now so I can not take any new pics.

here are some pics from a couple weeks ago.

Without the plastic! Notice the silencer is angled down and there is a bracket attaching the pipe's upper stay to the frame.

250R-Dee
09-12-2006, 02:59 AM
Better pic of the pipe mount.

250R-Dee
09-12-2006, 03:04 AM
Here is area that made my hair turn gray and then fall out becaus eof frustration!!

It took me several tries, making brackets, to get the correct spacing but as you can see the pipe is really close to the rear shock's upper mount.

With the new setup the pipe sits almost in the middle and the silencer is somewhat straighter. I will try to some pics of the new mounts soon.

250R-Dee
09-12-2006, 03:07 AM
Did Arens make their own pipe mounts? None of the silencers that I own fit correctly on my Arens frame while all of them fit perfectly on my old OEM '86 frame.

wishmasstir
09-12-2006, 06:03 AM
thanks for the pictures...this looks like its going to be fun to fab up. im gonna just shoot for a straight silencer i guess...

started it up today...ricky stator 200watt stator was needed, the one in the motor was toasted. i need to clean up the fenders/seat yet and put a rear brake line on it. but thats about it for now, i'm going to order a new quad tech seat cover and fullbore radiator shrouds to go with it. the front bumper is pushed down on the one side and thats killing me so i think i might be bolting on a stock 400 bumper until i order a new ac front. the grab bar is shot too so i have to order a new one up

It's nice to see another Arens framed R built up. I have an LRD adjustable on mine and the silencer bolts up just fine. However, the top of the pipe rubs one of the sidecase bolts on the top of the motor a little bit though:ermm: Coincidentally, I just bought a FMF Turbine Core silencer to fit on my pipe. Looking at Dee's pics of his silencer, I think I'll just drill a hole between those 2 factory holes so I don't need a bracket. Hopefully that will make the silencer sit level and not slope downward.

Wishmasstir, I'll be honest, your R looked good until you mocked up those lights. They're just to big. I think R's look cleanest without lights but if you absolutely need them I'd install some TrailTech Torches off the handlebars. And you could always add a couple more behind the front bumper too. I don't think Torches look that great either but they're about 30% of the size of those hella's. JMHO.

wishmasstir
09-27-2006, 05:14 AM
can't handle the big lights huh ... those little lights are for pussies ... if i ride at night i'm bringing the POWER OF THE SUN!!!!

the lights will NOT stay on it. they are a simple 2 minute hookup and have the switch on them to turn them on. the bracket is already bolted to the steering stem clamp which you cant even tell is there, and 2 small holes will be cut through the fenders. :D

outacontrol
09-27-2006, 05:59 AM
looks good man, i like those handgaurds. Plastic looks so good with that blue frame. I didnt notice how crooked your bumper is till the plastic is on there! Those lights are insane! I cant ride in front of you it will melt my plastics!

wow :eek2: thanks for all the compliments, maybe i'll clean it up and go for a qotm once the seat cover/shrouds are on it. i got the frame, the stadium style ac that was on it and the ac full chassis skid for $500 to my door ... i kept watching ebay and on here for a frame and saw that one and i couldnt resist so the build started. mytrx250rparts on ebay parts one out every 7 days or so and they usually have an aftermarket frame. i'd like to start another project like a 350rx or crf450 but i'd probably be kicked out of my house :blah:

yeah i kindof liked the uppers chrome but the new housers i got had the upgraded needle bearings so thats why i didn't keep the chrome uppers on it

houser says 2-3 degrees for woods and 3-4 degrees for mx, i have mine set at 4.5 degrees so it is a shade over but i'm not worried about it. its actually the same as it was set with the other housers i had on it. the angle gets smaller as the shocks compress. anyone interested in the strangford 500??? haha
