right now i am running a hot cams old stg 2 in my 416. it does good but i am thinking about trying a web cam. i am looking for opinions from people who have ACTUALLY TRIED BOTH not you heard or you think...the cams i am looking at are the web 479 or the megacycle x2. i know you need hardened rockers but do not care. how do these cams compare to the hot cam old stg 2. the numbers are similar but a lil bigger. was thinking about going with a lil bit more cam when i do my winter rebuild this year. I am thinking these two cams may pull a lil bit harder than the old stg 2

The 479 seems to pull a little better in the botom/mid ranges, and revs out better. Haven't dyno'd the two back to back but the 479 would make a good, but expensive, upgrade. A FCR39 and a good port job would be a bigger bang for the buck if you want to spend some money.

PS, I spent a few great years in Sao Paulo Brazil.

HRC................. .350, .339, 254, 256
GT Thunder....... .350, .345, 256, 256
WB Track.......... .350, .345, 256, 256
WB All Around.... .345, .335, 240, 248
WEB 450/451..... .350, .345, 256, 256
WEB 479........... .378, .378, 250, 250
WEB 463/9i....... .385, .370, 272, 270
Hotcams stg 1... .354, .354, 246, 246

HC stg 2 (old).... .348, .349, 254, 254
Hotcams stroker. .358, .354, 262, 257

Notes:

--Numbers are listed in inches and degrees of crank rotation (lift duration at approximately .050" lift).
--The Hotcams stg 2 old version is identified by "HCDG NO. 08" etched onto the cam--not sure what the current version says.
--White Brothers All Around is etched with "WB1870".
--White Brothers Track is etched with "WB1498".
--Notice that the WEB 450/451, GT Thunder, and WB Track are all the same grind.
--Honda part number for the HRC cam (it's actually an XR400 HRC cam) is 14000-NKK-000. I don't think they are still available from Honda.

And don't forget valve springs and shortened valve guides (at the minimum). Similar to what MIKE400EX was suggesting, I wouldn't bother with cams that extreme without major head work (big valves, porting, etc), a high flow exhaust, carb, lots of compression....pretty much the works.

oooo yeah i forgot....what about valve train wear with the web? any greater than normal?

I haven't noticed any more valvetrain wear than normal, nor do the valves need to be adjusted often - although I do check them frequently. However since the 479 is a little more aggressive than most drop ins, and of course requires heavier/stiffer springs, I'm sure that the wear is a bit more than a stock type cam. You definetly will want to add an aux. oil cooler - along the lines of the FST one. 12.5:1 is a lot of compression for an air cooled atv engine. Especially one that the head bolts don't go through to the case. It will be a runner if everything works together!

Yes, un-officially it is probably one of the largest, if not the largest city in the world. My old high school used to be way outside of town - now it's well inside the cement jungle. Even the airport that's in the "middle" of the city was once considered outside. But yes, it does rock!
