spark plug

hey i have a 2001 and i was wondering if there is a trick to getting the spark plug out, i tried a 5/8 and it was to small so i tried a 11/16 but it wouldn't fit through the head to get to the spark plug. does anyone atleast know what size the plug is?

a 13/16 spark plug socket is way to big anyways. a 18mm fits it perfect

TRXNIGHT is exactly right, at most auto stores you will find an 18mm spark plug socket that fits in there just right. I just bought one last week. I would suggest taking the rubber plug catcher out if it is a spark plug socket though, if you don't the socket will give you problems when trying to pull it out. (that was my experience at least) or buy the tool that comes with the bike from Honda, it is a really thin walled wrench and works relly well.

The factory Honda spark plug socket works really well. Head down to the local dealership and buy one....btw it's a 18mm.

thanks i got it out but i had to take a nut off of the bolt that was right in front of it.

That nut holds the cylinder head down. Get the torque specs and retorque it.

you can get them with the top end gasket kit. usually around $35 for the whole kit.
