anyone experienced this in early stages of break in?

i feel retarded. this bike has a whole new top end and it smokes under heavy accel a bit with 5 mins on the top end, i haven't had the chance to take it out and see if it's just the oil burning off in the cylinder or what, but it's smoking a bit if you give-it, it won't smoke under light/mid throttle, but then she farts a bit out at high rpm...im baffled, its driving me nuts. i put the rings in right and the build went well......ideas?

By saying "whole new top end"I am assuming you changed the valve seals?If so did you rehone(sp) your cylinder?It could be a couple of things.Maybe the gap in the rings?
