I weigh 240 and am 6 feet tall. I have been riding a 300 for over two years now and have always thought it suited me fine (size and power) until I looked into a 400ex. I really only do recreational riding on trails and such.

I am just curious how many other people here ride a 300ex and are over 200 pounds, because now I am thinking I am mabey to large for this size quad.

Thanks!

Hey man I weighed 180lbs when I had the 300 and when I got the 400 I weighed 190lbs and it seemed like a rocket, Oh and I am 5'8.... I was riding a 300 the other day and to say the least I was not impressed with the power because I was used to the 400, the difference is unbelievable...

A guy down the street from me has a 300, I bet he is 6'1 or 6'2 and 250 easy. He likes it alot. I am only 5'8 210, and have the 400. I would never go smaller. I think everyone would agree you can never have to much power. But I would wait a couple of months to see if Honda is going to come out with a new quad.

Thanks all!

Now that several of you have mentioned it, I had forgot about some of the rumors that Honda is coming out with a new quad. Thanks for mentioning that. I think I will wait a while and see.

Thanks again!

I was 27 years old when I bought my first quad and it was a 99 300EX. Being just over 6ft and 170 lbs, I felt comfortable on it.
After a year, I just couldnt stand my buddy out running me in the flats with his Warrior, so I bought the 400. :D

Ditto what Red just said. I'm 31 and in '00 I got a 300EX, I'm 6', 180lbs. After 3 summers with it I'd like to have the power boost of the 400cc machines (EX or Z). But I'll keep the 300 for a few more years until after the wife and son get new quads. Then it will be my turn again!:D Hopefully I'll get to go to a 305 or 330 kit between now and then.

I'm 5'11" 220 lbs. My 300 ex is fine with me, sure there are plenty faster and more powerful quads out there but for extremely tight trails in the PNW it's hard to beat a 300ex.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. You all make some good points. I think what I will do is hold on to the 300 for another few months until I get a fun runner, or a baja trailer, then pick up either a Z400 or the 400EX. Right now I am just hauling both 300's on a 10'x6' flatbed trailer and with the extra length of the 400's they would not fit. I know I could haul them with the front end up in the air, but I don't want to store them that way since I keep them on the trailer all the time.

Thanks again!

Even though I have the luxury of riding both and enjoying both of them, I find the suspension on the 400 to help me get through the night without the aches from my 300. I am 5'9" and 215 pounds, and 35 years young now. :macho

If I had to choose between the two... I would have a hard choice. The 300 is such a fun factor, where the 400 just handles so much better to the point that you don't know that you are going that fast!:blah But being a little older now, I would have to pick the 400... Just for the fact of it being easier on me.:)

BTW, I use a 5 foot wide by 12 foot long utility trailer to haul the two bikes with no problem... If you were thinking of getting a different trailer.
