I just heard someone mention that Marcums does not carry the FCR anymore..?? I was thinking about purchasing one real soon for my 400EX.

Question?? Does the carb usually come with the thumb throttle cable or do you have to modify your existing cable?? I have read nothing but positive coments about this carb. My quad has a slip on pipe, XR cam and unlimited cdi. My local shop told me that it would not make that much of a difference unless I had a highly modified engine. hhmmmm......I want to believe them but I read many opinions and posts that tell me otherwise. Questions, Questions, Questions.

Any thoughts or new info on the carb would be appreciated.

I'd spend the money on a bore kit of some size,,your preference,, before I'd get a carb.

Even with a stock engine an FCR would make a big difference. CT and Duncan racing sell the FCR for 500 and usually does not come with a cable. I sell the Keihin 39mm FCR carb for 470 with the thumb throttle cable. I have one on my 400EX and the acceleration is absolutely great. The FCR is worth every penny and, is currently the best carb you can buy for the 400EX.

A carb can make a big difference. Thats definately one of the top best high performance mods.

I know a guy with no porting, and a 416 bore, full exhaust, cam, and FCR carb. He is very fast.

I purchased my FCR from KandK atv in the summer i paid $435. I just drove there and they had it in stock. It came with pilot and main jets, it did not come with a throttle cable, i modified my stock one. Its not to easy to modify but i work in a machine shop.

I got my FCR from Sparks for $450.00 it came with the cable. I got another FCR from FTZ racing that is set up for alcohol, $500.00 and no cable. Needless to say most of the time I run the FTZ carb. My bike kicks ***'s.

Blackguyona400 !

Keep us posted on that FCR carb! I wonder if it is for a YZ426 or something ? That is a good price if I say so myself ! Ask them if they would give us a deal on like five or more if it is right carb !
Thanks for your thoughts on the Scotts dampener!!

The part number for the throttle cable you will need for an FCR and a 400EX is

17910-HM7-00

It's about $17.00 from servicehonda.com

Gabe,
You wouldn't happen to know about a cable for a twist throttle would you. When I asked K&K about it they said that I could make my cable work with some modifcation. They did not go into detail on what I would have to do.

Sorry, don't have a part number for a twist throttle...

The difference in the thumb throttle cables is the end at the carb. The carb end needs a "barrel" end and a threaded cable end (similar to the threaded clutch cable end)
