What does white smoke mean? I started my bike today and theres white smoke coming from the exhaust.

How do I fix this?

I just put new oil in.. 10W-30 in the motor side, 10w-40 in the tranny side.

I dont know what can be wrong.. I rode in the pouring down rain yesterday? Maybe that effects it..

My poor babys sick:(

White smoke is caused by coolant. It could be due to the rain hitting the pipe. I would check your coolant level and see if it's gone done or not. If it's gone down then you probably have a gasket leaking....

Or possibly he got a little water in the pipe washing it, or condensation.

Are you using the choke when you start it up? It might be the extra gas in the carb burning out. Althought I would think that would be black smoke...hmmm...now I've stumped myself...sheesh

Does it go away once the bike is warmed up?
Could just be condensation if it does.

If not it sounds like u are burning coolant.

How bad is it? Just a little or real extreme?

I dont see any when it idles, but when I give it gas there it is. Its not extreme, but deffinetly a decent amount.

I didnt have a chance to let it run to see if it goes away because I had to go to work, but tomorrow thats number 1 on my list.

wait a couple rides, and see if the white smoke disapears. if it does not, then you'll know you have a coolant leak.

if your engine was running rich it would be black.
blue indicates blowby/oil in combustion
white is actually steam from coolant/water
lean wouldn't really smoke...

take it for a good run, if it's moisture, than it will go away quickly, if not, it's time to examine the motor.

I have heard a really lean engine will smoke white. Correct me if I am wrong.
