the throttle is so stiff on my bike its almost unrideable after about 30 minutes. common problem or just mine? i have a spare z400 throttle im going to hook up tomorrow and see if it lightens up. i took the spring out of the throttle housing and it didnt make much difference. i will oil the cabel tomorrow also, or possibly get a new one to see if thats the problem. is there a lighter spring available for the carb?

My YFZ throttle is stiff too. I'm going to get a new throttle cable next week and see if that helps.

just ordered the new spring from ebay that everybody on yfzcentral is raving about, and im going to hook up my z400 throttle, it feels pretty comfortable. i should be in business i hope. some people said that with the new spring it doesnt always pull the throttle all the way back. any one experienced that?

Cut the spring in the carb to take the preload off of it. You'll have to re-bend the hook but it will be oh-so-sweet! I did that to all my bikes plus have a 400EX throttle body. You can seriously BLOW on that thing and it'll be wide open! :scary:

I've got the Honda throttle and Ebay spring mod done, very smooth. :chinese: I didn't like the Z400 throttle that was on mine originally.

you can also take the throttle housing apart and it has a spring in there. just take out that spring and it helps alot

i took the spring out of the throttle housing and it didnt help at all. i got the spring on ebay from johnhonda and wow! what a difference. i got some taller 14 degree swept fly bars that are much comfier than the tags i had on there. the throttle position is a little off, i still get a little arm pump after i ride hard in trails for about 45 minutes or so but i think ill live. the only thing i cant decide is whether to cam mod it or not. the power is great and plentiful right now, perfect for the trails. not sure if i want to change it, but i guess i can always change it back.

Don't do the cam mod if you ride tight trails, you'll experience more arm pump. It's much nicer to have the smoother power of the stock YFZ than the much harder hitting power of the dirtbike timing.
