yamaha is better but honda will last longer.
pretty much yfz450 will spank a 450r stock.
if you mod them it matters what mods

if yamaha is better then how will honda last longer? shouldnt the better bike last longer:confused:

i just got a yfz and i love it. its only got a gytr slip on and filter and a 13t sproket and it rips! lots of torque. i chose a yfz for 2 reasons,

1 i like how it sits lower just feels better to me

2 there were no hondas forsale in the area so i had no choice:p

i went riding today any my buddy has a full piped and cammed 450r. we race atleast 10 times and came to the conclusion that who ever gets the better start wins. they are very close in performance, just preference.

If you ride in a lot of trails get the 450R.
If your going to start racing MX get the YFZ.
It depends on you.

i have to disagree. i ride ZERO mx, only trails and that didnt stop me. i chose a bike i felt comfortable on, not what other people 'say' its made for. you can set up a bike for anything, thats why there is a wide variety of after market parts to customize for you likings.

maybe there were no hondas available in the area because they are better. i know where i am, there are YFZ's everywhere but 450r's are harder to find

im just saying.....

I have the honda 450ER and its runes like a champ so far but like they are saying if you want a bike that is wide then get the 2006 yfz but I would get the honda but only if you want to

I just got my yfz too. I mostly ride trails and the yfz is awesome on the trails and on the beach. I got the yfz cause it feels a lot more comfortable and I like how it sits low. I love hondas but the 450r didnt feel right for me. Its all your choice, btw my yfz is reliable as hell.

thats why I didnt get the yfz because its sits to low but they are greats bikes and i rode a yfz and they are so soft when you go over bumbs and ****

thats funny because 90% percent of yfz owners would prefer if the stock suspension was not as stiff over the choppy stuff.

i personally feel if you wanna race MX and have either of ther bike last you have to make a few mods.

YFZ: subframe supports or a new 6pt subframe.

TRX: gusset that frame because i have seen them fail many times.

i have a yfz450 and the only structural problem ive had was the breaking of my subframe. the bike always starts, responds well to mods, has a nice low center of gravity. it is just a very reliable bike and id recommend it to anyone.

the problem with this thread is most are going to be biased in this forum just as all the guys are in the "honda never breaks ever and is the best solely because it is a honda" forum.

i love honda and thought i would NEVER ride anything but one. 2 weeks ago i got a yfz and i love it. you cant beat honda reliability but they are both great bikes. the only thing we ever had wrong with any yamaha is on a pw 50 because when they put it together at the factory they scratched something in the carb and the throttle stuck. i think a yamaha would be just as good as a honda in reliability.

07-30-2006, 09:04 PM
Yup I agree
Yamaha and Honda are both reliable as hell, and when people say Honda's are better and Yamaha's are better. I just don't respond because their both equal.
