Ok first off I know it will fit. What I am wondering is has it caused the problems that I now have? When I bought the quad the previuos owner had put in a 250r axle and hubs that were in rough shape, rust and chiped crome. The carrier also had a crack in it. Assuming that they were the same I installed an older but mint RPM Dominator axle with a 400ex carrier and hubs. The quad also has a houser swing arm on it now. Every thing was in good shape six months ago now the sprocket side bearings in the carrier are done.

The plan is to get a houser twin row carrier for a 450r swing arm. What I am wondering is will the 400ex axle fit the bearrings that will come in the 450r aftermarket carrier? I would rather not sell this axle. RPM's don't seem as good any more and this one is mint.

No it will not work right. The 400ex setup is probably why the bearings are gone. the 400ex carrier is 1/8in or 1/4 (I cant remember) longer than the 450R one. I've tried doing this and it is just not going to work.

The 400ex carrier is on the bottom.

O.k. I see that but is the axle diferent. Can I run my houser swing arm with houser carrier all for the 450r, but still use the 400ex axle.

They are definitely different. The bearing area on both axles is different. heres a pic of a durablue 400ex axle and a 450R stock axle. Notice the bearing areas of both.
