gasket?

There is oil residue on side of the engine on my 400. It smokes alot when it is running, so i was wondering if there could be a gasket blown that would cause the residue and the oil burning.

is the oil appearing to come out between the head and the jug or might it be comming out of the valve cover, also is there a power loss of the engine?

which side is it leaking on ?

as the engine is sitting on the 4-wheeler it would be the rear of it, not on top so i think that it would be the head, unless the valve cover extends down that far. I just put a full exhaust system on it so it's hard to tell if there's a power loss but it kinda seems like it.
