******Jeremiah Jones Seriously Injured*******
I am sad to report that Jeremiah Jones suffered a serious lower spinal injury, which will require surgery tomorrow, and as of last report, he doesn't have any feeling below the waist. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, and as more details become available, I will be sure to keep everyone posted on his condition.

New Berlin, NY - Boy does time fly because it seems just like yesterday that ATV motocross racing was making its debut at Unadilla Motosports, which has become of the holy grail of the AMA Outdoor Nationals, and a new legacy has begun for ATV motocross racing with it becoming an annual stop on the ATVA National Motocross schedule.

Unlike the picture perfect conditions in 2005, the area received heavy rain Thursday night and into Friday Morning, which delayed the start of practice, and only a few die-hards even ventured out onto the track to be completely covered in mud, but the mud didn’t deter Michelle Reiser as she continues to gain momentum against Angela Butler and Heather Byrd.

Admin
07-29-2006, 07:57 AM
Only a few Pros riders also decided to gear-up and take a few laps in the mud, but Trent Kandel didn’t seem to mind as he even had a little bit of fun.

Admin

It appears there will be a new face on the Pro starting gate this weekend with the Canadian Greg Gee deciding to make his Pro debut, and he won’t be the only Canadian on the line as Richard Pelchat and Jasmin Plante has made the trip down to the US once again.

Admin
07-29-2006, 08:03 AM
Unfortunately, only a few classes were able to get in some laps before the skies opened up again and dumped easily over an inch of rain on the Unadilla track, but some racers still went out for a few laps in the pouring rain.

Admin
07-29-2006, 08:05 AM
As the rain steadily intensified, practice was eventually cancelled as the staging area turned into a pond.

Admin
07-29-2006, 08:06 AM
Ponds began to form all around the pits, which forced Josh Creamer to move his pit to higher ground.

Admin
07-30-2006, 06:48 AM
Once the rain stopped, the track crew attempted to drain most of the puddles including Lake Yoshimura.

Admin
07-30-2006, 06:50 AM
With nothing else to do for the rest of the day, many just drove around high and dry to avoid slopping through the mud.

Admin
07-30-2006, 06:53 AM
These girls weren't afraid of getting dirty as they were almost completely covered in mud from head to toe.

Admin
07-30-2006, 07:02 AM
Once the sun sent down, the lights came on and the track crew worked through the night to prepare the track for racing on Saturday.

Admin
07-30-2006, 07:09 AM
With the fog and lights, it was a perfect time to get some cool night photos.

Admin
07-30-2006, 07:12 AM
By Saturday morning, there was a steady breeze, which worked awesome in drying up the track .

Admin
07-30-2006, 08:09 AM
Amazingly, by the time the first motos began, the track was already dusty in sections and the track was barely even muddy.

Angela Butler and Heather Byrd put on an incredible show as this pair continues to battle for the women's championship with Angela Butler taking the advantage with her 6th win of the season at Sunset Ridge, which moved her past Heather Byrd with 5 wins.

Angela picked up where she left off at Sunset Ridge and took the first Moto win, but Heather could still claim the win if she wins the second Moto.

Brian King was right a home at Unadilla as he jumped out to the early lead in the 16-24 Class.

Admin
07-30-2006, 08:58 AM
With 629 entries, many of classes were broke up into divisions and there were going to be several LCQ events, and for the first time in several rounds the Pros out of the top 10 in points were forced to qualify.

One of the new faces in the Pro Class is Josh Upperman, and he grabbed the Holeshot in the Pro qualifier.

Admin
07-30-2006, 09:01 AM
Josh Upperman maintained the lead from start to finish over Josh Creamer in second place.

Admin
07-30-2006, 09:02 AM
Several Canadian’s signed up for the Pro Class with Jasmin Plante, Richard Pelchat, and Greg Gee all earning a spot in the Pro Main.

Admin
07-30-2006, 09:06 AM
#52 Dana Creech also made a surprise appearance this weekend and also qualified for the Pro Main, but later he decided not to race.

Admin
07-30-2006, 09:08 AM
Unfortunately, Jason Dunkelberger would have an early collision with Richard Pelchat, which dropped him back in the pack, so he would need to go to the LCQ to earn a spot in the Main.

Admin
07-30-2006, 09:11 AM
Shortly after the Pro Qualifier the skies opened back up and it poured for nearly an hour, which forced racing to be put on hold until the storm passed.

Admin
07-30-2006, 09:14 AM
Once again, the track and pits turned into a muddy mess

Admin
07-30-2006, 09:21 AM
Regardless of the rain and soupy conditions, 6 Pros were forced to the line for the LCQ with only the top four making the big show.

Matt White was lucky enough to grab the Holeshot with Greg Gee holding the inside to avoid the mud shower while Dunk was being sprayed down by Matt White's roost.

Admin
07-30-2006, 09:24 AM
Matt White wasn't immune to the mud as he was covered after the first lap, and he would go on to take the win with Trent Kandel, Jason Dunkelberger, and Greg Gee all advancing to Sunday's Pro Race.

without knowing where Byrd finished, I can't tell you.

However, let's say he finished 15th overall. Gust would be 5 points behind him, now.

Going into this round Byrd had 246 and Gust 217. Gust won today, so that's 30 points, which gives him 247. If Byrd finished 15, which I'm assuming that he would finish out of the top 10 with the DNF, he would get 6 points, giving him 252.

For the offical point, see http://www.atvaonline.com/race/results/atvanarres.asp?s=9&cls=501&year=2006

Also, points go like this

1) 30
2) 25
3) 21
4) 18
5) 16
6) 15
7) 14............

20) 1

Hope this helps...............

We went today and JJ was probably the one guy we really wanted to watch ride. After his crash in the first moto he was really moving even though he was last, picking some fast lines. Looked like he would be a force in the second moto. I'll pray for him tonite.

Its extremely sad to hear about these things happening. I was also really surprised how seriously he was injured. Last i heard at the track he was starting to get feeling again in his legs but i guess i heard wrong.

I just can't believe it! I watched this kid grow up loving this sport. That first new warrior got him hooked. You could go by his house about anytime and he would out there crafting his new hobbie. I have seen Jeremiah make a lot of comebacks. I can't help but believe that with the Lords help, he will walk again. I ask that all of you take some time and pray for Jeremiah, his family and the medical team that is caring for him. GET WELL SOON JJ! WE LOVE YA!!!!!!!

Heres a thought....
Maybe if we shortened the hole shots, the severity of the crashes may not be as harsh.
Even with shorter holeshots there still will be rubbin.
But that first turn won't be 5th gear pinned.
Just a thought for the WPSA and ATVA.
I personally would like to see that.

I agree, and this issue was discussed last night here. I hope and pray that Jeremiah is ok and that no one every has to go through this type of injury again, but sadly I think it is going to get worse as the sport grows.

Watching the pros for the first time was the most amazing thing ive seen in a while, after i heard jones went down...it looked like he just got stunned as he was out jumping everything and not even caring about yellow flags, it sucks about his injury but I do hope he gets better

Any chance you can fill everybody in then on a more discriptive note. Everybody seems to have mixed stories cuz no one really knows the exact truth it seems. In moto 1 he went down but got back up and racing again, I am not sure what part of the track that was on but I did hear he landed in a big mud hole.
In moto 2 going into the first turn Jones was WAY on the outside. 2 guys to his inside got together (looked like Brown got into Jasmin plante) sending Plante HARD into jones which ejected him off the right front of his quad and underneath it (it even looked like Plante may have landed on JJ) and then Brown slammed into JJ and his quad which jammed him under his own quad even more. I dont think anyone realized he was under his quad for a while, even while they were pulling everyone apart. It was about as brutal as it gets.

i was standing right along the fence there when it happened, it was the nastiest crash i have ever seen, i hope jeremiah will race again. and yes they didnt even realize he was under the quad for like a minute, then they frantically got it off of him. he never did a lap of the second moto.

on a side note, i had a good time i crashed hard in my lcq and got my bell rang pretty bad.

i was standing right next to creech and wes miller during moto 1 of the pros and they were commenting on upperman, saying how he's riding how farr was 5 years ago, so smooth is what they said. he should be a champion in a few years if all goes well.

JJ's update
I was asked to post this information.

JJ went into surgery sometime after 8 pm. The operation is expected to last 5 hours. The damage may not be what they expected and he does at this point have what seems to be a chance to walk again. While we pray that this is the case, no real information beyond what I just posted is being released from the Jones family, however they wish for your prayers and support through this tragic ordeal.

You always hate to hear stuff like this. Whether you're a fan of that person or not. I talked to JJ in May before the Muddy Creek race at a autograph session at a local bike dealer. And he seems like an awesome person. A really nice guy. Not to mention he's a top notch racer. I watched him and Gust dominate at Muddy Creek. I really hope its not as bad as the first reports. The racing thing is not that important any more. I just hope he can walk again. But hopefully not only will he walk again maybe at some point he can return to riding the #2 Zuk. I know this will motivate Digger. Like z rider2 said he will be a man on a mission. Go Gust!

Last week my buddy called me up on the phone and was like "Hey man, 2 words for ya", and I said "Yea?"..."Jeremiah Jones" was all he said and I knew he just bought himself a new LT-R.

Jeremiah was poised to be so much more for this sport than just a rep for a particular manufacturer though, he seems like the type of guy poised to be a representative for the entire sport...

My thoughts and prayers are with ya Jaramiah...

Shortly after 2AM, this Tuesday Morning, the surgeons completed the nearly six hour long operation on Jeremiah Jones. Unfortunately, his spinal cord was found to be seriously damaged as anticipated, but it hasn’t been announced whether it is damaged or actually severed, which would be the worse case scenario. As of now, the odds are not in favor of Jeremiah ever walking again, but as anyone who has been fortunate enough to know and meet Jeremiah will tell you, he will give it everything in his power to overcome this hurdle.

The surgeons applied a bone graph and screws to Jeremiah’s damaged vertebrate, which has set the stage for the healing process to begin. All we can do now is pray for Jeremiah Jones and his family during this very difficult time, but as Joe Byrd’s Mechanic, Dan Lamey, told me today, “Jeremiah still has the use of his arms, and he can still do almost anything he wants.” Dan should know because he was paralyzed from the chest down in 1983 when he went through a fence at the start of a race on an ATC, and he has since become one of the most respected engine builders in the ATV Industry.

Jeremiah’s Mom, Brenda, has been overwhelmed by all the support that Jones family has received from the ATV community, and the Jones family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Hi all,

I spoke with Jamie about a half hour ago. JJ's surgery went from 9pm est to almost 4am est. He has not severed his spinal cord, however it is severely damaged. They have told him he most likely will never walk again. However, Jamie, JJ and family have a different outlook and say that he will!!

I was one of the EMT's that day that treated him and took him to the hospital. I have never really followed ATV racing, but since Sunday I have done nothing but read about it and about all he has done with his racing career, along with his wife Jamie. My heart, prayers and support are 110% theirs while they get through this. They are already doing support bracelets, fund raising etc. If you feel you can contribute, I will get more information on where to send the donations and ideas from Jamie and JJ tomorrow.

I plan on going to the hospital tomorrow to see him and the family and will update you once I return.

Please continue the support on here for him as I plan on printing out the love and support on here and taking that to him tomorrow to read.

Prayer, faith and positive attitude!

Deb

Hang in there JJ. God is the Ultimate Doc and can heal you. Isiah 53 says "by his strips we are healed" He took on any and everything we would ever endure. Believe he will heal you and accept it. It may not happen over night. Don't give up! My family and I will be praying for you. Have faith my brother!

We have ordered Blue Silicone bracelets with Jerimiah Jones #2 and we will have them at Loretta's for $5. The money made will go to the Jones family. I'm sure they will be announcing more at the races.

I talked to Jamie a little while ago and she said they were waiting to go in for the MRI and JJ was is good spirits. Lets pray for the best.

I stopped with my son today and visited with JJ, Jamie and their family. They are very thankful for the great support they are getting. I printed off all of your good wishes and took them for JJ to read for more inspiration!

He was going in for an MRI and that was going to determine when he could be heading home to begin therapy, possibly in Atlanta. He needs to be able to sit fully upright without feeling ill or dizzy. Remember, this is only the 2nd day since his surgery, so he is still weak from that ordeal of 6 hours. JJ's spirits seemed good and his attitude is that he plans on fighting this all the way through!

The family as stated above will be having the bracelets done and will also be having stickers showing his number and signature. I let them know I can also help sell this items and all money will go to help the family during this time. I know they are having auctions and raffles at the next race as well. Please consider submitting an item(s) for these auctions/raffles to help JJ and the family out.

Please keep up the positive posts, prayers and encouragement. JJ does have a hell of a battle in front of him, but with all our support, a positive attitude and faith in God, he can and will get through this.

I plan on returning to visit later this week if JJ is still in the hospital. Until then, please again keep these positive postings coming and I will bring him another bunch when I get back over there. FYI it was like 20 pages once it was all printed on my microsoft word. On a side note, I also printed the photo of him that was put together showing 3 different race events and framed it for more incentive and told him that he would be back doing that in time!

Keep in touch - keep the prayers and keep sending encouragement!

I have been praying for JJ and is family ever since sunday when I heard the bad news. JJ is my favorite rider ever since I saw him in Huevos 7. He is also a great role model for the sport. I never hear anything bad about him. He always races clean. It is always cool to watch him ride, he has a great riding style and is not afraid to charge and ride hard. Get better JJ.

My thoughts, prayers, and wishes go out to JJ and his family. I hope you overcome this obstacle and pull through for the future.

On my second thought, it kind of concenred me seeing the (rookie) pro riders this weekend. Greg Gee just made his pro debut. Richard Pelchat and Jasmin Plante made the qualifier . it concerned me because the pro (main) pro riders have seemed to had a groove so far this season. There hasnt been any accidents in the holeshots or anything. Yes i know the espn's have been taking some pros out of the gnc's. It just seemed more people have been coming up without being established pro level in the begining of the season. It sucks seeing a great rider with championship material go down liek this.

I know accidents can happen at any given time and they are freakish at some points.

Just my .02 cents

JJ will pull through this just like he pulls through all of those races he is a very strong guy. I hope everything goes well for him,and he is able to be in front of the field of atv's once again. JJ is the man My prayers are to him.

Just to clairify Plante, Pelchat and Gee have been racing pro in Canada for a while now so they expeirenced at what they do. Yes they might be well know in the US, but in Canada Pelchat is the number one plate holder, and Plante is running second right now behind Pelchat.

I don't want to take away from JJ's thread, i just wanted to point that out.

We are praying for you JJ, we know you can pull through!!!

Jeremiah Jones Update: 8/3/06

JJ has been in great spirits, and he is determined as ever to overcome his paralysis one way or another, and on a very positive note, JJ has responded to some of the therapy, and he was able to sense the pressure of a cold cup and pin applied to areas below his waist. He still doesn’t have any feeling or movement, but he could sense the pressure, which is one very small but promising step to recovery.

Now for the bad new, JJ received a MRI and a CAT scan today, and it revealed that several of the pins inserted into his vertebrate were actually affecting his spinal area, so he went back into surgery tonight to have the pins relocated. If all goes well, JJ is expecting to be released from the Hospital sometime between Sunday and Tuesday, and he will be transported, as of now, to a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta, GA where he will stay for an extended period of time.

The trip from New York to Georgia will require the use of a medical airplane ride, which will be a costly trip and exceed what will be covered under his insurance policy, so in the first phase of raising money for JJ, we are making available for purchase online, blue Jeremiah Jones #2 bracelets, which can be purchased for $5.00 Each along with a Flat Rate $5.00 shipping charge for any quantity of bracelets ordered. Also, for those just looking to make a standard donation, a field is available for this as well through paypal. For those without paypal accounts, you can also mail in your orders or donations to Debi Bartosek, and the order information is available online at Jeremiah Jones Bracelet & Donation Link (http://jbatvracing.com/88Live2Ride/jones.htm).

Bracelets are already on order, but they haven’t arrived yet and more will be ordered, so please allow up to 4 weeks to receive your bracelet via mail. Bracelets will also be available at the remaining ATVA MX Nationals and WPSA events. Also, several regional race promoters have also requested bracelet shipments, which will only help expand the reach for raising funds for Jeremiah Jones.

Here is the link to place your order or make a donation:
Jeremiah Jones Bracelet & Donation Link (http://jbatvracing.com/88Live2Ride/jones.htm)

The Jones Family thanks everyone for the incredible outreach they have received from people from around the global, and I personally thank everyone for posting all their great words of encouragement for Jeremiah and his family.

God Bless,
Harlen

Hi all,

JJ will be flying home today to a re-hab center in Kentucky instead of Atlanta. I spoke with Jamie today and she said the last MRI showed that everything was in place and now it was time for healing. JJ still has swelling in the back area due to the injury and surgery and that will take time to go down, however, his spirits are still good and his determination is strong!

Please continue to let JJ and his family know that all are rooting for him 110%!

He will be flown by a medical flight and the family will be returning via the RV. Keep them all in your prayers for a safe trip home.

JJ, keep up the good work with the positive attitude and spirit! I have to say it was a pleasure meeting you , but I am sorry it was under these circumstances. Keep your head up and know that there are a bunch of people pulling for you!

FANS and supporters - Please also remember the fund raising bracelets, stickers and donations on the page link in a previous post.

A special quote from my late mom...."Always give 110% in everything you do, because then even if you fail, you will have succeeded!" JJ - You WILL succeed!

Take care and God Bless you and yours!

JJ there is no place like home!
Keep your head high and work hard.
I have always been told God has a reason.
Believe and trust in the Lord!
I know you are going to do well!
You have so many people behind you, even people like me you don't even know???
Keep a smile, God bless you and your family.
