well i waso utside today riding, and evrything was going good, untill about 30minutes into the ride my quad just bogged down and shut off. It was 110degrees outside with the humidity, and i was practicing corners. Everything was running fine yesterday and today it wont start. I waited untill it cooled down, and i kicked it over 50times and nothing, it turns over but wont start. Nothing is locked up, and after it bogged down, i herd a little pfff, like it was letting out heat. It wasnt like a backfire POW jus a pff. Do you guys have any clue on what happened?

Feel like it has good compression when you kick it? Sounds like it could have seized for a second then cut loose. Check the compression...

Generally, when an engine mysteriously dies and won't re-start there are three things to check to begin figuring out what's going on....

Does it have spark?
Is the carb delivering fuel?
Does the engine have normal compression?

If it won't run then (almost invariably) one of those three things is amiss.

JRP

i think its running rich because of the humidity, its getting gas, because when im kicking it over, i can smell the richness. So i think its jus the jetting

Definitely check that plug! If its black then you are too rich (possibly fouled...ugh the day of the 2-strokes ;) ). If its brown, you are good to go. And if its white...you are too lean.

Beware...the 450's plugs are super hot plugs and I had to pay almost $20 for mine :(. Sandblast your other one clean if at all possible and reuse it.

Nick wasn't it you that found out the really hard way about valves beeing to tight. Ah I wouldn't listen to you either whats $1200 to $1500. Especially since your puting a new cam in anyway.

my valves arent too tight, they are a little bit off, i have a professional mechanic look at my bike every day, if he says its good to go, im sure its good to go, hes never done me wrong before, so i think i will listen to him ;)

wow i should have known that. a few days ago i was riding and it kept cutting out on me so i went home and i knew it was the plug so i checked for spark there was spark but it was real weak so i checked the wire and what do u know it was hardly even pluged in. if i were u i would wrap it in eletric tape so it dosent come unpluged again.

i have a little track in my back yard, its about 3/4 of a mile long, but whenever i go riding, i like to go to Breezewood Proving Grounds in PA. its a 4hr trip but well worth it.
