View Full Version : 250R Key
I recently purchased a 89 250r key, switch and wiring for my 88 250r. The switch has 2 wires on it, a red (male plug) and a black (female plug). Upon going to install it, the only 2 unpluged wires i found were both female. one appeared to be black with a red stripe and one green. The green looked to be a ground.
Any idea how to hook this up or am i out of luck?
Thanks
Joe

Replied. Anyone else know? Or anyone with a 88r, could you trace your 2 key wires for me if your hoods off?

You dont need to have the hood off to find the connection. Follow the harness down the upper left frame rail near the fuel valve. There is a square rubber dust cover with a few connectors in it. The two female connectors in the harness are for the key switch. Key switch should have male connectors.
I was told it was an 89 key and switch and its one male and one female.

why not meter it out and you want to make sure its normally closed(continuity with key out of switch) and put a new end on the wire, very easily done. trx250r key switches are no longer available, I use crf50 key switches, nearly identical to 250r key switches.
