Well im asking this for my brother, he plans on going work offshore for a year straight, saving every single check he gets. He plans on buying a brand new vehicle at the end of the year. So whats the best truck/ car for the money..he said hes looking for speed, more of a little sports car. Or maybe even a fullsize truck, but preferably (sp?) a little sports car. Also it has to be manual, and less then 25k, MAYBE 30k if its really worth it. Thanx neil

^^^ Whats the price range on one of them? Reliable? And umm.. what kind is it? I dont know anything about cars..

Its a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. There are 3 different trims. MR is the best. MSRP is $36,299. The come with Recaro racing seats up front. Momo wheel and shifter. Brembo brakes. I don't know a whole lot about them. I would like to have one though. What I do know is that they're pretty fast. Its not the fastest thing out there but its like having a $90,000 porche that you can enjoy with the whole family. :D Its a 4cyl turbo awd car. Very fun to drive!

A car similar but sounds better (IMHO) is the Subaru WRX STi. I love the sound of that engine. It is equipped in the same fashion with seats and such. It does have front and rear bias controls to change the handling of the car. Also a 4cyl turbo awd sedan. Near the same price.

I am thinking that the Evo is the cheaper car to build if that's his cup of tea. It also reponds well to the mods.

I'm not sure if that is what your brother had in mind in a "little sports car."

My friend just sold his STi for $26,000. So he might find one in his price range if he's really interested.

trucks and suv's have more residual value than a car any day. that car will be worth half in 4 years and 60k. i say F-150:o

s2k
350z

All of those cars can be bought around the 30K price range and are all fast and handle well

STI hands down. my friend had a 06 and it is BY FAR the fastest car (besides a 3000gt) i have ever been in. my mom has a grand prix GTP 3.8L v6 with a suppercharger and they sti would kick the chit out of it. plus with the 4wd it handles like a dream.

My bro is really likin' this. I seen a 1998 BMW m3 on ebay, it only had 240HP, but it said it was faster than the 330ci? Didn't you say the 2001 had 333 HP?

350z....might as well get the infiniti G35....it looks better (not so ricey). Around $36,000 new. 300hp rear wheel drive. 2 seater.

M3 - $48,900 The M3 is a very nice car though. I know a guy that has one. Its pretty fast but he doesn't run it hard. He's an older gentlemen. If I could afford it, it would be nice to have. 333hp rear wheel drive

The honda S2000 (s2k) is a nice roadster that can be fast. In stock form it won't stay with the Suby or the Evo. Its also rear wheel drive. MSRP starts at $34,050. 237hp but lighter compared to the Evo, STi, and 350z. It too responds to mods well.

Subaru WRX STi starts at $32,995 300hp all wheel drive intercooled turbo. The newer body style is pretty ugly compared to the previous.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo $36,299 I can't get the website to work (dial up) so I don't know the hp number. I'm thinking its in the 280-290 range. All wheel drive intercooled turbo.

Just go to the websites to see pics and specs. All are very nice cars and worth the money. Its just a matter of what you prefer and how much ya got.

What about the 2003 ZO6 vette? How does it compare to all of the cars listed already?

jesshamner
07-27-2006, 09:45 PM
Z06 $66,465 505 hp rear wheel drive and pretty good handling for an American sports car. It might be a little out of his price range and if gas mileage is a concern, you might want to stick to the 4cyl, v6, or possibly even an rx8 rotary. Not sure about the performance of those though. I don't think they're too hot. At first they claimed more hp than what they were really getting and had to take some back from angry customers.

First off, you have to describe the person thats driving it??? I'm just about 6'0 and pretty much all these cars mentioned except the "vette" I would be very uncomfortable in:grr: Plus, a big guy in a little car looks kinda weird going down the road!! thats what someone told me:D

Have you ever been in any of these cars? You wouldn't fit in a 4 door car? I'm 6'0" also. I sat in the back seat in the STi and though it wasn't comfortable, I was able to go for a ride there. He said he wants a sports car. Last time I checked, sports cars weren't made for comfort or luxury unless you want to spend the money on the bmw or the Mercedes AMG line.

If your big person, the car thing will get old:o

Remember what this person says ^^^^ when your brother goes to test drive them. It is a matter of opinion. Apparently he doesn't like the car thing. I, on the other hand, like cars. So your bro really needs to decide what will be best for him.

I am sorry but if you have to come on the net and ask what car should I buy. I want a sports car. Or a truck. Than buy a average equiped pick up, any brand they all have +/-'s. Or a econo car, It prob has lots of pep. Save your money for somthing that maters to you because cars obviously don't meen that much to you.

oh get a red one they are faster.

I couldn't bring up the link but I'm a big fan of diesels. But, the thing is that if he does any kind of hauling, towing ect...???? If he doesn't, it would be kinda worthless for him. To me its kinda funny when people will buy a $47000 truck (diesel) to cruise around in and don't use it for what its design for (just my opinion). If you don't use the extra power, why do need it then!!!
I didn't see the mileage or the price, couldn't bring the link up??

Thanx for the help:rolleyes: .. Like I said, it's not for me, he was just looking for the ideas...

And the starting bid for the truck was 40,000... but he probably would be just buying a stock one and adding on eventually, idk. I think he just wanted something big, and nice, and roomy, and powerful...I know he likes mudding. I really dont know whats running through his head right now

I've seen a 2003 I think mustang for like 19,000. Would that be faster than the sti, and evo?

The cobra is probably going to be faster....until you start turning. But even at that, the turbo 4cyl cars aren't too far behind. Your bro might not have the same ideal car as me but I would want something that is fast and handles good too. The straights don't last forever and the twisties are always fun.
