I saw that pic at the polaris dealership in there 2007 accersories catalog. It is very real and definately a different motor cause it only has one exhaust pipe.

I see what you mean, we got our 07 catalog today and I was sitting by our 06 outlaw on the show room with the catalog and a magnafying lense. Differences, Black frame, new graphics, black seat, Single header, definately a different engine: Different motor mounts, quick change clutch cover, you can see where a Kickstarter shaft used to be, and possibly a SOHC, can't quite tell that. But just that engine alone should shave about 25lbs off the outlaw and the predator if they use that engine in both!!!! Hopefully reverse is still there! And I can't tell if EFI, you can see the engine is much shorter, but can't make out if it is carb or not, with all the vent lines hanging down though, looks to be carb, even a Flat slide!!

If you look at the header heat shield it looks like it branches off into two headers, like the normal outlaw, pic is to hard to make out. Can't wait to see what its going to be.

“Our teams have worked well together over the past year. The strategic partnership has accomplished a tremendous amount so far and achieved nearly all our goals during the first 12 months of its existence.” said Tom Tiller, Polaris’ CEO. “For instance, in February of this year Polaris and KTM entered into a long-term exclusive engine supply agreement for ATV applications and in March of this year KTM became Polaris’ distributor in Germany. Additionally, our co-development projects are progressing nicely and we expect to make an exciting announcement about one of our projects in the near future. These and other joint cooperation projects will continue into the future. I expect the technical cooperation between our companies to continue to be strong in the coming years.”

Thats all I have to say about that!

That is what makes the new model releases exciting, All of the dealers get to see it,ride it and talk about before the public gets to see it. I think that is fair, dont you? Thats what makes it cool to be a part of the Polaris corp. I hate that you were upset earlier but I am in the same boat. I will just keep riding my 06 Outlaw and trade my 06 Predator L.E. for the 07 Outlaw. I never ride the Predator anymore anyway. I take that back, I did just race it at the 4 hour team harescramble, only because my Outlaw was all apart getting new carrier bearings and bushings all the way around. At that race I rode with one of my buddys, Stephanie and Angel Atwell rode together and Borich and Mcgill rode together. Needless to say Borich and Mcgill tore it up out there!! But one thing you do know is that fugi motor is damn tough, and has more than enough power for the average joe. Mine piped and jetted with the white bros filter kit really has all the power that i need. It will be more about the WANT of that new engine than the NEED!!!

I robbed this from another site. Enjoy

Original Post:

Alright guys, it's offical. Outlaw with KTM 525 motor. Polaris claims that in testing it out ran EVERYTHING including the 450's and Raptor 700. And.... LESS WEIGHT. Same weight as Raptor 700! Polaris finally did it right.

The Predator keeps the 500 motor. The Outlaw will still have the 500 the first half of the year, then get the 525 KTM . Even with the 525, it still maintains reverse and electric start.

Other than that, nothing too exciting. The X2 gets an 800 model and has an updated seat latch and cushier seat. Now you can get 2 different Sportsman 500/700/800: a standard model Sportsman with no EBS, and steel wheels; or a deluxe model with aluminum wheels , EBS (4 wheel), rear rack extender, and a winch standard. So now you have a lower priced alternative if you don't want all the bells and whistles.

The 800 didn't get any more power or double a-arms, etc. as rumored. Carb 500/700 dropped.

Question Asked:

Are you 100% sure about this? No weight change for the Sportsmans? No different designs? They look the same? They kept Macphearson struts? Grrrr...

Response to Question:

Yep, I'm sure. I've seen it with my own eyes.

The Scrambler is now black/gray and looks really sharp, but not redesigned.

Only the deluxe model Sportsmans get the 4-wheel EBS. It's all 4 wheels, unlike the current rear-wheel-only models. They lowered the price on the standard models and dropped a few bells and whistles.

No Trail Blazer replacement.

And no weight change or different designs on the Sportsman. But to be fair, I've never had a customer complain about the weight on a Sportsman and I've been selling them for 6 years. The only people that care are the peopl that read it in Dirt Wheels.... Then they ride one and lost interest. The pure recreation market is so small compared to hunters/ranchers/commercial that I doubt you'll see a 600lb Sportsman in the near future. Everone on the forums likes to talk about it, but to be blunt, the recration riders are the smallest segment. It sucks... I'm a recreation rider myself. But the manufacutes just build whatever sells based on customer feedback.

The ATV industry as a whole hasn't really been growing regardless of manufacture, so I guess that's why it's been slow to see huge updates. So even though there isn't anything new that is too crazy, these are still steps in the right direction. I'm not saying it's shrinking... It's just been stagnant for the last 4-5 years. In the late 90's it had a huge boom then went flat.

Polaris, or any OEM for that matter, builds whatever the buyer wants. That's how they stay in business. It's in their best (profitable) interest to give the public what they want. If you don't see it on the showroom... That means not enough people want it. Well, let me re-phrase that. It means not enough people will buy it. We all talk about what we want, but a small fraction of us would actually go buy it. And that's what counts.

I would love to have the new Outlaw... but there is NO WHERE to ride anymore. More and more places get shut down. If we focus on places to use them, more people will buy them, and more innovation will hit the market.

TYLER329

Nice job Polaris! They give us the 06 Outlaw half way through 06 and now we will get the 07 half way through 07. That pretty much makes my 06 Oultaw unsaleable. From the pictures I have seen it looks like it doesn't have piggy backs in the rear. Probably had to cut costs. I'm sure i'll buy one but Polaris isn't making it easy on the racers giving us the quads 1 month before the season starts.

Northstar Wolf
07-31-2006, 06:30 AM
I agree with Tyler329, with the 07 year only 4-5 months away back in March or April. I decided to wait for the new 07 Outlaw to come out and now we have to wait to March or April again. So looks like I'm going to wait for the 08 model year now.

They have to do it! So many options, I don't know how many different types of predators there is, normal, TLD, LE, not to sure, now the outlaw 500 and 525. Its a must, they have to give the serious MXer something other then a 450 kit!

I was 100% not trading until the ktm 450 efi came out but the 525, 395lb OUTLAW is sounding damn good.

I'll wait and see what my Polaris guys say when they get back later this week. Its gotta ben great fun to go and ride the crap out of band new pototype machines.

I have heard that there is only one Outlaw 525 even made. I kinda wonder if they didn't just build one for the show to gauge public reaction. I also would like to know why the heck it won't be here until spring and every dealer only gets one. I know who's getting the one coming to this dealership!!!!

wolffie
08-01-2006, 11:21 AM
wow, i cant believe there is gonna be a 525 outlaw! personally i think its great Polaris is updating their quads. hopefully that will make the other brands step their game up a bit. People can say what they want about Polaris, but at least they dont sit on their asses and try to sell people products that are outdated.

CHADIX Is there any way I can get one sooner to my dealership. Heck i'd pay extra!!! The only good thing about the limited build is the fact that I am sitting on 7 2006 Outlaws.

CHADHIX
08-01-2006, 02:44 PM
Sorry for the confusion, I meant that I will buy the first one I get here at my store! You guys better mark them babys down with all the rebates and move them before the new Outlaw comes! I thankfully only have two left. They have been selling very well for me.

TYLER329
08-01-2006, 03:33 PM
Whats the trick, heck I bought one myself, won my first race on it, and still I can't move them very well. It just seems like they just get to much bad publicity for being heavy. If you run out of Outlaws and need to dealer trade some let me know!!!! Have you heard why there is no piggy backs on the 525 Outlaws? How about horsepower, I know that the Outlaw was rated at 52 hp.

CHADHIX
08-01-2006, 07:41 PM
I also race mine all over the state. Every race I go to I always have people checking it out. I offer any remotely interested person to come to my store and test it out on the track at the store. We had Fast Traxx build us a sweet mx track along with some woods trails for people to take the demo machines out on. It will sell itself on the trails. I try to keep competive trade in's in stock to compare it to. The Outlaw 500 has 48 hp vs the 525s 62 hp. This thing is an ANIMAL!!!! Good luck and use F.A.C. to move those machines!!!

wolffie
08-01-2006, 08:23 PM
the new 525 is crankin 62HP??? thats insane!

CHADHIX
08-01-2006, 08:40 PM
Dyno proven!! UNFREAKIN REAL!!!! I am so pumped to get one of them on the track. Stephanie rode one two weeks ago and said it is absolutly sick the amount of power it puts out. She said it was very smooth, but very very powerfull. She is hopefully going to do a write up on it soon!!

Crackhead_Willy
08-01-2006, 08:44 PM
I love KTMs and couldn't wait to see one of their engines in a quad, but I have got to know where the 62 HP number is coming from? I would assume that you are talking about at the crank since the KTM 525 bikes are only putting low 50s to the back wheel. There is no way a quad will be anywhere near 60HP with its much heavier drivetrain.

CHADHIX
08-01-2006, 09:11 PM
You are correct about that. That number is at the crank on each engine. Sorry about that:)

CHADHIX
08-04-2006, 07:01 AM
The bad thing is Smiley wont be riding a Polaris next year. I think Polaris will find a suitable replacement for him next year:)

calds650
08-04-2006, 08:02 AM
I due not think he will be on the Outlaw. It does not fit his style of racing. The Outlaw handles corners so different and he was unable to adjust too it at race pace. I have a S.W.A.G. for 07, if KTM uses the Predator frame and there engine Matt would be a great rider for them

CHADHIX
08-04-2006, 11:18 AM
It is hard to tell who he will ride for next year.....

08-04-2006, 11:47 AM

wolffie
08-04-2006, 12:09 PM
im pretty excited about the Outlaw. correct me if im wrong but the Outlaw weighs about 440lbs right? the new 525 outlaw weighs 395 lbs and has a higher perofrmance 510 KTM engine it. so the Outlaw loses roughly 40 lbs AND gets a hotter engine. sounds pretty damn good to me:D

the only thing that puzzles me (mabey you could answer this for me Chaddix) is that Polaris is still keeping the regular Outlaw in the lineup, and hasnt changed the pred much. basically they have 3 quads that are all very similiar. you would think they would just replace the old outlaw and make some changes to the pred:confused:

CHADHIX
08-04-2006, 12:21 PM
There will be two Outlaws for next year. A standard 500 in black or white or the 525 in black only. There will be no Troy lee edition for next year. All of the Predators will have the wide ratio tranny in them. They do make an Predator L.E. for next year but is only a color change, No rezzies, No Close ratio tranny. I think the Predator will be all new for 08. They did however lower the msrp of the Predator to $5999.00.:)

Why does Polaris site say the 525 is a shaft drive?

calds650
08-04-2006, 04:34 PM
can you say miss print the broacher says chain drive

SVTPete
08-04-2006, 05:04 PM
I think there will be two outlaws because the 525 will be very limited. KTM likes to limit there production runs on the first year bikes. The reason they do this is they build just enough to qualify for racing and I believe the 525 will be no dfferent.

wolffie
08-05-2006, 11:11 AM
so basically the 07 preds will all have the gearing from the standard pred? interesting....you would think Polaris would at least throw on the rezzies:confused: im willing to bet the 08 pred will probably be a 450ish style quad. then Polaris will have the 525 Outlaw for XC, the pred for MX, and the Outlaw for multi purpose recreation.

TYLER329
08-08-2006, 06:07 AM
You could be right but i'll bet they dump the 500 Outlaw after the 525 becomes more readily available. Wolffie, do you race in the Iowa ATV Harescramble Series by chance, your quad looks just like one at the races. I was the only guy on an Outlaw this year in this series. Hopefully Chadix can get me a 525 so I am faster next year!!!

any problems with the Outlaw at all? i have heard mixed things, but it deffinetly looks like a beasty machine. i am very anxious to see the new 525 and would love to test one myself. mabey the magazines will actually give it a good review:rolleyes: lol

I have heard the rumor going around now that is it not much lighter than the current Outlaw. How do you shave off 45 lbs and only change the motor?

CHADHIX
08-09-2006, 07:03 AM
Lets see, where to start?, No external oil tank, single header instead of two, The list goes on and on. Who ever started that rumor is totally stupid. It is way lighter than the current Outlaw. Anyone that has ever had a fuji engine out of the frame can tell you that is one heavy chunk of iron!!

TYLER329
08-09-2006, 07:48 AM
Man i hope you are right. I weigh 135 and a 2hr long race on a Outlaw in the dry weather is pretty exhausting. Less weight would really help! Plus, from a dealer standpoint it would be nice to have people trading off 450's for a Polaris!!!!

The heat was a common cause for a lot guys slowing down or taking a quick break to recover.
