when i bought my 250r, the entire thing was in pieces and the guy didn't tell me what part was what and what was aftermarket so i'm left guessing on some of it. this carrier was just sitting in one of the boxes. looked like a lonestar carrier to me but i just wanted some clarification.

also, forgot to ask. is it a twin row?

hm, that's true, pappy.

what should i use to clean it up, if you didn't notice. the guy really beat the crap out of this thing haha. i'm going to take a dremel and smooth out most of the parts but should i just use like an SOS pad for the little things?

a piece of steel wool would be best along with a shot of wd40. it will come clean

Lonestar usually has a stamp or something that starts with LS.....and Baldwin carriers are the same but have it engraved or stamped like the Lonestar ones like Pappy said.....

another question.

i already bought bearings for this carrier not realizing it was a twin row. can i just buy another set of normal bearings and double'em up instead of buying a set of extra wide ones for it?

NO NO NO, you need twin row bearings. BCA part number 907257, these are the same bearings used in GM A/C compressor clutches.

what he said.... and can be gotten at most any bearing supply.

going with the double'd up single may or may not change the locations of how the seals flush up with the ends of the carrier. ;)

I got in a pinch and needed to rebuild my carrier this last weekend. I remembered this post, and went to Napa to buy those twinrow bearings Rich posted for a GM A/C compressor. They were about 33-34 bucks each .:eek2: Plus the seals from my Honda shop, I ended up paying roughly $88 to rebuild my carrier. Are you guys paying this much for these bearings also?

Now I see Woodward Specialties sells a twinrow kit with seals for $40 plus shipping on Ebay.:grr:

looks like an older Rad twin row.
