Rubber tube on gas cap. Do I need it?

Do I really need the vent on the gas cap? because it doesnt really work good. The POS keeps falling off, can i just cut it and make it SUPER short? Or take it off completly?

there should be a little silver clip to hold it in place...it is somewhat necessary as it stops the fuel from getting out, but more importantly, the dirt and mud from getting in...


mine has never and i mean never fallen off...

I have that gas cap from rockymountain... and the samething happened to me, I keeped loosing the breather hose when I'm riding. So I just took a cotter pin and wrapped it around the bottom of the hose, so hopefully this one will stay put this time;)

yea you need it. Take the hose off and twist some really small gauge wire on the end of the hose just alil loose. Then when you goto put the hose back on position the loose wire on the end of the hose and slip it on. By leaving the wire alil loose it kinna acts like the same as the stock clip. You may have to do it a couple of times to get the wire good and tight. When you put the hose on you will notice that it kinna buldges on the end, thats why ya leave the wire alil loose.

ya i have the tusk gas cap to and every time i len over the gas tank to do a burnout it falls on the road. So i put a dot of super glue on it and it hasnt fallen off yet.

Im not sure if its true but i remeber someone telling me that if you dont have one you can pass out from the fumes of gas going right into your face?
