mys sparks motor kinda sucks?

Well I just bought a sparks motored 450r and I am not impressed I guess. I have an 04 with hrc cam/port work/ baldwin 14:1 piston/ fcr carb with noss adapter/ vortex ignition/ lighter flywheel Yoshimura trc pro titanium pipe and it seems faster than the sparks motor witch has aggressive drop in/13.5:1 sparks piston/ sparks crf ignition/ sparks carbuerator/ sparks valves port work Sparks pipe with ceramic coat. I am just not happy with the power of the sparks. Is it just me or is this right? Is there anything I can do to my sparks motor to actually make it faster?

well with all that done to it it should be some mean s.o.b.....are you sure your just not hooking up??that would be my question...also did you change your gearing at all....if not I would go up a size on the front...youll notice a bunch more torque and spin less...

The but dyno is not always the most acurate, the way the power is delivered has a lot to do with how fast your brain feels the machine is. although 250Rs are fairly fast, one of the reasons they feel like a rocketship IMO. and like st8 said, are ya getting traction

im not saying the sparks machine is any faster or slower than your 04 which is a pretty built bike itself.

you just need to line em up and let us know the outcome

I wouldnt mind doing that(lining them both up) but the 04 motor timing chain got too loose and skipped a tooth taking out my lower end so, that left a sour taste in my mouth. That is whaht made me go and get this 05 sparks bike... SO other wise that was one of my plans, but now I am just putting the 04 back to stock and just hanging on to the 05 sparks. It just seems to me like it just doesnt have the power of my 04 when they were set up the same as far as eerything except the motor.

I can attest to the butt dyno being whoefully inaccurate. Last dune trip a buddy and I where comparing a couple of 400EXs--riding them back to back and just fooling around on the little dunes near camp. One of them felt a lot more powerful. The throttle response, the "lightness" of the front end, and just the way the thing felt had us convinced it had more power. So we took them over to Olds (big sand drag hill) to get the final word. The one we thought felt faster was actually much slower in the HP department. Paddles where the same, gearing was the same, and we switched back and forth--same results. The "fast" bike was actually slower (in a drag race, at least)....

Not sure if that's the same deal as your two bikes but it's something to consider...

Natalies sparks engine pulled alot more holeshots and held together last year. And yes I know rage was his mechanic last year. Just what I seen I am not a human dyno. Also not bashing rage either. Just statements like that are not always good facts on engine builders.

Look at some of Wimmer's holeshots in the WPSA races... I think those Sparks engines are nasty!!!

A friend of mine has an 04 with a sparks motor and an 06 with just a cam and sparks pipe both bikes are set up exactly the same for mx. He says that his 06 has more power and pulls harder than his 04. I have seen him pull some awesome holeshots this year in the local pro class with his 06.

ok, what about Winner, Goodman, or Borich. How about Mr keith Little? Non of witch were going any good untill they went to Sparks, am I correct? John hasnt been as consistant with the holeshot this year as he was last either. I dont know, could it be that I dont have the Big Core or the X4 camshaft?

I have a john N sparks motor and it pulls pretty good!!

but then again it has a custum cam :D
