What kind of riding do you do?

I'd get a new exhaust. (HMF or Curtis Sparks are the best IMO)
A new air filter. Jetted. Tires. Then save the rest for parts that will brake on it.

You could probably find some used works shocks front and rear for less than $500-$600. Then you would have enough left over for a few other goodies like new tires or a used pipe. Shocks are the best upgrade you can make on the 250x IMO.

i forgot to say that it has works shocks in the front and the guy i bought it from rebuilt the the whole engine, tranny, kickstart, carbs, etc.

For $850

Pipe, (for stock bore, hmf w/ fmf or wb header, or a sparks x-4 w/ spark arrestor), filter, cam, & rejet.

Then save the other $300 for some suspension upgrades. ;)

this is gonna sound like a dumb question (probably because its a dumb question) but what is the difference between a 250x and a trx 250?

The trx250x is chain drive manual clutch and the trx250EX is auto clutch shaft drive.

Yup.

The TRX250X is almost identical to the TRX300EX. It just has a shorter stroke and a kickstart (among other minor differences).

The TRX250EX is a entry level quad with a shaft driven motor out of the Honda Recon Utility Quad.

Basically they are about as different as you can get. ;)

dont use wheel spacers. The stock axle is already extreamly weak.

if your not goin to do any big jumps there fine till u can get a good axle ....not everyone can go and dump 400$ on an axle...and guessing he is 14 i don't think 400$ is something he can just got get or make like someone our age

yeah I agree with that, but they are just not safe. I have a personal preference of having my rear of a lesser width than my front. I wouldnt really mess with teh rear if I were you.

i like mine wide like the front...i like the way it turns and handles but as i say to each there own he wheel spacers are not that bad i'm running a set till i kill my axle...and they are holding uppretty good they take the punishment i give them didn';t bend or crack yet....
