my 440ex has developed an oil leak somewhere in the valve cover. it appears to be the rocker shafts, anyone have this problem and how hard to fix?

The rocker arm and sub-rocker arm shafts do have copper sealing washers. Are you missing any?? Maybe one of them isn't doing it's job?? You can try try retorquing the shafts (spec = 20 ft-lbs) to see if that helps. The shafts are suppost to be installed with a thread locking agent though...

o.k. it seems to be coming from the valve cover bolt just in front of the rocker shafts on the left side of the engine (while sitting on it) I have re-tourqued it but it comes loose again (not loose but just enough to leak:grr: is this possible? I've never seen oil come up and out of a bolt or is this because of another problem. If this is it could I put some type of gasket:confused: on it and use threadlocker to keep it from coming loose

it sounds to me like it either needs to have a heli-coil put in because the threads have come out or that the may be some liquid gasket or something in the hole that is backing it out. i have had both the problems. maybe that will help.
