Well, here soon I'm gonna go out and buy a new quad, but I just wanted a few opinoins on what to get. I got 8 grand to spend, so I can get a damn good quad.

I mostly ride trails, only do a drag with my friends every once in a while, and just cruise around a little here and there.

So...what do you guys think?

A 400ex would be good for your type of riding. Id get a used modded one if I was you, but thats just me.

Yeah I been looking at a lotta 400's lately and they ain't bad bikes. If I got a stocker I would have to hop it up a little bit.

Other people would rather buy a stock quad and mod it them selves, but that costs alot of money. But I would rather an already modded quad.

what sort of riding experience do you have? how big are you? a 400ex is a good bike, but you should get somthing bigger if you have experience. do you have a quad now? lots of questions to be answered before somebody can give u a good idea on a quad u might want.

I will get a 450 or a Raptor 700. I wouldnt waste my money on a 660.

I heard the raptor 700 are good all around quads. Also Those Can-am/Bombardie 800 4x4s are fast!

I been riding quads practically my whole life. I'm about 6 ft 2, 250 lbs. And right now I don't have one, sold my 660r bout a year ago to get a car and wanna get another one.

Just got back from the honda shop, they had a 05 450r marked down to 5 grand so I'll prolly end up getting that.

Good pick.
A 450R or a YFZ are both great quads.

My two cents, is to go with a 400cc or bigger! The 400ex in my opinion is the best all around quad. However, I really like the Z400 and the 450R. If your like most of us you'll have alot of fun on the 400ex and then you'll get use to the 400 and want something bigger and badder. The 400ex can easily be built to run with the 450cc and 660cc if you want to spend the money. Plus, the 400ex has alot of parts out there and the price is usually cheaper than most of the other "makes and models". I've had mine (400ex) for awhile and thats what happen to me. So, I started the modifications. I got the following and now I love it all over again.

HMF Full Muffler system
Jetted the carb
Rev. box
high compression wisco piston
Stage two Hot Cam
Port and polished
bore job

I also, believe that if you have the money get what you feels right for you. Listen to that little devil inside you head...he'll tell you which one to get. lol.

ended up pickingup the 450r on Friday, took it this weekend and rode it a little bit, went easy though gotta get it broke in first.

It's an awesome quad, once I get some more cash I'll probably just put an exhaust, filter, and re-jet it and be fine.

let the dealer put the hrc kit in it. You will be amazed at the power differance. I had a friend put one in his 06. and havent seen him loose a race yet:eek2: and i was dead even on my 416 with him before that.
