This might shock a few riders but ... I had NEVER been on a TRUE Trail ride EVER and this wk end ,I am no longer a virgin!:p lol

We mainly ride on MX track ,FTracing or sand dunes so this was a totally new experience.

We went to a town called Idaho City. http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/id/idahocity.html

Idaho City has alot of history behind the old mining town and has many beautiful trails.

I think the one thing that I found bizarre was how you coul ride into town on your Atv's and even ride down the highway to the nearest turnoffs for trail on the opposite side of the highway!:huh None of us had license plates and they didnt seem to mind.

We arrived at 8am Sat morning and rode until 4pm on Sunday. We took 4 good rides . My only issue would be having +3 aamrs left me to stay on most of the old logging roads :( I was able to get down to a creek for an afternoon swim that had some tight spots, that was fun!:macho
Elevation changes was approx. from 5000-8000 ft up that we rode. Pilots Peak was the 8000 ft and we all had a bit of jetting issues but nothing too severe.

We had VERY VERY hot temp this wk end with temps nearing 110 degrees in the valley, temps was around 102 in Idaho City .

Last ride of the day was the fastest for me riding 5th gear . I left a nice gap between another rider(due to very dry dusty conditions) I had such a blast!!

Here is some of the pics I took, I had such a great time I will most def. take another trail rider this fall to another destination.

hope you Enjoy the pics .

I needed pics for a tire write up as well,so this was a good opportunity to test the tires well. The front end rode like a dream
I had issues with dust so some of my pics read the dust and diint take as well as I had hoped

There has been some forest fires so there was alot of haze from smoke in the air .
The views are so breathtaking and the pics dont do the scenery justice.
Idaho has some of the most beaufitul Mountain scenery .

Wow you live near all that awesome countryside and this is your first trail ride??? :eek2: Looks like a great riding spot. Trail riding is to me the best part about this sport. Sounds like you had a great time though. Nice pics too.

Lol. Very true. I should talk. I haven't been out yet this year.:o My upcoming knee surgery kind of threw a monkey wrench into all that. Can't wait to get out next year though. I guess if you have dunes to ride on it would be hard to find time for trails though.

awesome pics...now that i have a good camera, and after a little practice, i'll hopefully be getting some like that.

trail riding is great... varied scenery, wildlife, conditions...you get it all...

that looks like a great place. I want to get out west to all the places i just rode by when i was driving. there are so many i wouldnt know where to start. but the woods are pretty good on the east coast too. the trees just makes it that much more exciting dont it? Dunes look fun for a few hours, but trails its always a different challange around each turn. great pics. wish i was there!

Well looks like you had a good time on your first trail ride. They are definately the best. Especailly when you go on the multi day ones, camp a few nights and just ride all day long man. Peopel make it better too.

Hope you go on some more good rides.

Wow those pics are bringing back some great memories.
I just got back to Texas from Idaho.
We were installing a Flour pneumatic conveying system for a Tortilla manufacturer in Boise.(yes tortillas in Idaho)
we rented a 4wheel drive Expedition and drove that scenic byway route that takes you thru Idaho City we took dirt roads and all(we know Budget was pissed when we turned it in) we even ate at The Nugget. BEAUTIFUL part of the country
Really wish I had been able to take the wheeler but nowIi have a reason to go back.
Even one of our guys is lookin to move to Boise now.
Great pictures looks like a great time!!!!

lol well, I like it all really :D
But I swear if I had the chance to a woods race , I would jump on it in a heartbeat!!:blah: Maybe some day ....

We are throwing around the thought of getting some dif A-Arms and selling my +3's :o
I want to ride somewhere a little more rugged , but Chrome A-arms might not be a good idea :ermm: :p

What REALLY liked about this, is the ENTIRE family can be involved ther is no pressure, you can ride at your own pace or take off on a trail and ride your own style. :)
