make sure the ring is lined up with a little slot, and make sure the piston is not on backwards, you may put a little oil for lubricant, we had the same problem on my kx, but once you get it lined up it drops right in

Carefull take the rings off the piston, and see if the piston alone will fit in the cylinder. (oil is a good idea here) Then take the rings one at a time and slip them into the cylinder, the ends of the rings should not touch, but should be close together. If all appears well, put the rings back on the piston, oil the heck outta the whole deal, compress the rings, and tap it on with a soft hammer.

make sure the ring gaps are lined up with the locating pins in the piston.. !

there will be 2 little pinsin each ring gap on the piston. one per ring gab. then the ring gap on the rings has to b over these so the rings will fully compress.
