yeah, that exhaust looks sweeeet. oh , and what kind of plastics are those i been looking to buy some black ones

PismoLocal
07-24-2006, 09:59 AM
Yep all the powdercoat on my quad is from pappy, I believe it was around $160 for the exhaust work but it was in horrible condition before pappy got it. He ceramic coated the head pipe, powdercoated the can and endcap, repacked it with new packing, and return shipping was included. Definitely worth it in my book.

Ya there is some cutting involved to get it to fit right.

Where do you cut at to make it fit? From what i saw, theres like two vertical tabs on the front of the hood.. Thats what u gotta cut??
Man that bike looks mean, i kinda want mine to look like that, except for the cut fenders...

That looks sweet. That front end looks like it has too much positive camber, though.

Nope you donet have to cut those tabs, the tabs on the front of the hood actually line up with the contours of the stock plastics very well. I can take a pic for you some time with the hood taken off so you can see where I cut if your interested.

PismoLocal
07-26-2006, 10:54 AM
Ya when I put the arms on I didn't realize that your supposed to run with a little on the negative side and I set it up so my tires are strait.

Hmmmm...... it must just be the camera angles because its mounted just like all the other white brothers pipes with the stock brackets.

Ya I dont have work today so I am going out to take some pics with the hood off.

Ok here is the first pic when I cut for the hoo I took a good 2" off the tip of the nose of the quad, the I started cutting using the factory lines from the opening for the stem. I left a little bridge from one side to the other to help keep it rigid. feel free to ask questions.

Thanks, that pic helped a lot.. It looks a lot easier than i thought it would be:). I got another ? now. On the hood, is there two holes to mount it in the front or did u have to drill some?

flauge
07-29-2006, 09:56 AM
Nevermind my last post. I jus found out that there are holes on the front already.. I was kinda thinking that there were tabs up front and that was it.. Well time to start looking for a carbon fiber hood for mine..
Hey Pismo, your pipe is kinda laid back looking.lol:p ...Looks good tho. What kind of header is that?

The pipe is a white brothers promeg exhaust, its basically just a full system e-series. The pipe was in bad condition when I bought it so I had Pappy powder coat the can and ceramic coat the head pipe.

Lol....you should just do it on your own... you will be alot more pleased when it is done. The hole he cut on the plastics is only to get more air to the motor. The size of the hole doesnt matter, just dont make it bigger than the actual hood...line it up of course before you start cutting away at the plastics. Also its easier to mount it from the top first then from the front. I mounted from the front first and had a b!tch getting the top mounted. Anyway, Good luck.

Very nice. I was wondering if you can get some shots of the header and more colseup of the pipe please. I am considering it, it looks awesome.

12-08-2006, 04:59 PM
well i was just wondering cuz you guys both have the race cut fenders and i dont.

here are some pics: as you can see i am going to have to cut the stock headlight and neutral light holder off for my hood to fit.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c120/mestoe/DSCN1283.jpg

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c120/mestoe/DSCN1282.jpg

do you think i should cuztom fab some brackets to screw it into those holes in the middle??

btw where did you relocate you key and neutral switch??

Chin_Chilla
12-08-2006, 05:19 PM
Just cut off the headlight thingy you see in that picture. I wouldnt suggest you cut anymore cuz the headlight hole is big enough, and just mount the hood from the top where the handlebar clamp is, and from the tip of the nose. There should be 2 screws/bolts, on the top, and 2 on the nose. The 06 fenders i used had a reverse knob, and thats where i put my key switch , since my 02 doesnt have reverse. And the neutral light i took off completely.

atvRiDa400ex
12-08-2006, 05:22 PM
yea i was just going to cut that and make a cover out of diamond plate to fill in the void and i think im going to put my key there.

yea i wasnt going to cut anymore out of the middle. i will have to shave some of the tip like Pismo did though, and i just hope it will be wide enough up top because right now it doesnt look too promising, but well see and thanks for the help.

Sorry about not posting earlier I have been out of town. If you want to use the 450r hood your going to have to cut the sotck plastics on the green line I drew. Once you cut, line up the hood where you want it, mark where you need to drill and drill your holes.

As far as a Mod list here it goes.

Motor- 11:1 440 kit, stage 2 hot cam, 450r carb, HD studs and cam chain, Yoshi full system ( In the pic I was running a White brothers Pro-Meg full system that I had powder and ceramic coated), GoldenWest CDI, HD clutch springs.

Suspension- + 2" Burgard Frap joint arms/ Axis Standard Travel Triplerates. In the rear I run an Axis comp, rebound, and preload adjustable shock.

Body- Maier Race Cuts in the front with a 450r hood, maiers in the back. I have some powdercoating on my quad here and there and some random anodized stuff.

thanks pismo.

im just going to get the maier race cut because as of right now i will have to custom fit some brackets to make the hood fit because of the "bridge" part.

12-13-2006, 05:34 PM
Are you going to get the full set or just the front?

i already have black maier rears, so i am probably just going to keep those and get the race cut front and get rid of my front now and side fenders too.

Have you looked into getting a 250r hood. I know they fit the stock style plastics. You could save yourself around $100 if you just cut the plastics and get a 250r hood.

i like the look of the maier race front...
