I got my motor somewhat tore down and I have to say for my R being an 04 and what it looked like when I bought it I wasn't sure how the cylinder was gonna look. If I wanted to bump up the compression a little can I just by a new piston with the same bore and just put it in there with no cylinder work?

What do you guys think? How's my cylinder look from the pics?

No,

even if the cross marks look ok they prob won't be able to brake in a new set of rings. i would say buy a new cylinder from honda for like 200 somthing and slap whatever high comp piston you want and it will fit just right and run a long time.

But check your ring gaps!

or just get it re honed

Not really supposed to hone these cylinders because of the Nikasil lining.

You can get it Nikasil-ed again ...

The cost to renikasil is as much or close to the new cyl.

they make a special honer for those that you can hone but i think you should be able to put in a new piston and it should work fine.

don't take any chances just buy a new cylinder.
it will be cheaper than getting the old cylinder honed.
I think you can get a brand new cylinder for around $200.
Then, you know it's ..........good to go *hand motion*

Are the honing marks all around the cylinder? From the pic , they look like they are only on one part. If so, the cylinder is out of round. How rough do the marks feel?

From the pics you posted the cylinder looks to be in fine shape.

Honing the cylinder, replacing the piston and rings (no matter the compression ratio of the piston as long as it is made for your application) should be no problem.
