The 2006 Quadfest event was held at Mountain Ridge Trails Resort - in Central City Pa located just west of Bedford Pennslyvania. The event was hosted by none other then PAATVING (http://www.paatving.com) and they did a great job getting the event organized. Roughly 2500 riders were in attendence to ride the many trails located on 850 acres.

Trail riding, Drag Racing, MX Track time trials and a Mud Bog were all ready for the riders who had a good choice of activities to chose from.

Four Stroke Tech's "Mudzilla" was completed and ready for action at this years event. FST owner and racing legend, Mickey Dunlap was hammering his creation through the pit!

Can Am was displaying all of it's models, and offered everyone a free test ride on certain Utility models.

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:23 PM
The new Can-AM "Renegade" was on display, but other then getting it out for us to photgraph, it was off limits.

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:25 PM
GNCC rider Mike Penland was in attendence, and was having Matt from Precision Dyno get his Can -AM dialed in.

Harlen Foley took to the track on my YFZ to have some fun after we had set up the ATVriders.com booth friday. Harlen also clocked teh fastest lap of the weekend winning himself and ATVriders.com another trophy!

Pappy

60 acres was mowed for everyone to set up camp in. I was informed that next years event will be held at the same location.

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:33 PM
I set out to explore what this event was all about, and I found a little something for everyone. With over 60 miles of trails, ranging from easy to hard, anyone who tackled them would surely have fun!

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:36 PM
The courses were marked well, however no trail maps were provided. That was the biggest complaint I heard. Riders young and old, were having a blast riding in the pennslyvania country side.

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:38 PM
What I meant to be a short ride to gather pictures, turned into a 2 hour ride. Once you were out there, you did not want to come back anytime soon:p

This is a the view of the main Vendor area, which is also where the office is located. Riding 7 days a week is available for those who just want to get away from it all.

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:40 PM
Before the following days mud bog action, we got Mickey's Monster down to the pit so I could get a few shots for every one!

Thanks Mickey!

The 900cc Brute Force has no problems going where you want to take it!

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:46 PM
Harlen, Myself and Dirtwheels editor Cain Smeade were rushed to a mudhole by security! They said all heck was breaking loose and thats where we needed to be!

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:47 PM
The hole was no joke, and even took it's toll on a heavily modified Arctic Cat.

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:50 PM
Harlen has a full sequence of this feller. He and his riding buddy, both grandpa's no doubt.......but having the fun of thier lives!

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:51 PM
With the big hole in the woods conquered, we slipped to another spot. It is funny what folks will do when photographers show up:p

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:55 PM
The hole was not going to let anyone out with out a tug from another quad.

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:57 PM
Out on the trails, riders on every type of machine were taking full advantage of what they were there to do!

Pappy
07-23-2006, 02:58 PM
The Black marked trails rivaled anything ever found on a GNCC course. A helping hand was needed at a few spots

Pappy
07-23-2006, 03:00 PM
My wife and I did the "Big John" Black trail and had a blast. Rocks that ate a few skidplates lay in wait for another victim

The Mud-Bog was held on sunday, and a few brave souls had enough left to give it their all!

Timed runs would eventually narrow down a winner.

Mickey and his Monster hit the pit and it sounded like someone had driven a small block chevy in there:D

Pappy

Powermadd was well represented by their man Johnny G.!

Pappy
07-23-2006, 03:17 PM
It was great seeing Johnny at a no pressure event. He was a busy man no doubt, but he finally got a chance to break away from his PR work and decided my new Brute Force would be a great way to see the area!

It was a good trade, I put in some time on his race quad so we are even:D

Pappy
07-23-2006, 03:20 PM
I have many more pictures that I will try and post at a later date. Three days of fun and the ride home have me whooped! It was great seeing alot of site members there, and chatting with those that will be new members once they get home and cleaned up!:p

Pappy
07-23-2006, 06:36 PM
It had been a very long time since I actually played in the mud. I put 50 miles on my new quad this weekend and had a blast. I cant wait to go back to this area and ride some more!

Pappy

Pappy,

Great coverage. Speaking of media coverage. On two different occassions this weekend while watching the evening or 11pm news out of Altoona, they had coverage of this event. Both times they showed the vendor row and both times they showed the ATVRIDERS.com banners that were set up at one of the boothes. Was nice to see the site getting tv coverage.

I had a good time. That black trail ate up one of my skid plates. Pappy came to my rescue with a spare one in his trailer.

This weekend was a blast at the QuadFest and Extreme Dirt Track despite only getting 10 hours of sleep since Friday and it is now 1AM Monday morning and I am just getting ready to go to bed and drive home from Lake Erie tomorrow.

I finally had a chance to have fun just riding this weekend at the Quadfest, and pappy was kind enough to lend me his YFZ450 and 400EX to ride. The funniest thing was when he told me to take it easy on his YFZ450 because he didn't want it broke up, so I decided to enter it into the MX time trails and do the 45-50 foot double jump on his baby in stock form, so I decided he should atleast witness the attempt incase I didn't make it. He just grabbed the camera and headed on down without saying a word, and captured the moment, and the good news was that I cleared the gap with ease.

I actually had the second fastest lap time because an ATVriders.com member on a fully modified beast beat my time, but I still got a 1st place trophy?

The mud and everything was great. Also, I had a chance to snag Johnny C's Honda for some laps in the woods along with Pappy, which was a blast.

I had a blast, and was looking forward to riding with Johnny C on Sunday, but I received the call to head to Ohio for the EDT because no one showed up to cover the event for me, so I pulled out at Midnight and made the long trip north for another fun day at the races.

I will surely be back at the QuadFest next year because it was a well run event and a chance for me to actually enjoy what I love to do "Ride" because anymore I spend more time typing than riding.

I tried to find out how much that poor girl had to be paid to hang out with JG all weekend;)

(She was a very nice person and worked hard in the booth alongside JG.)

Traci was forced to leave abruptly when a friend was rushed to the hospital.

wiredrider
07-24-2006, 09:32 AM
I see me in some of those pics :p

yeah i heard that black trail was nuts... i went on the other 2 and then ran out of time because I was spending to much time on that mx track we wernt supposed to be on :P

everybody that came near me on that track i'd just either stay right behind them till they messed up, then jumped in front and flew away, or if i was in front already i'd just take off and they couldnt keep up :P

can't wait for '07, its supposed to be at the same mountain

Pappy
07-24-2006, 09:38 AM
Thats the first time I had ever been to an organized trail event. I did not find anything too difficult on the black trails, but being on that brute force surely helped:p One section was getting nasty, I was hammering it going downhill just to get through it!

Oh right on . I'm sure you'll enjoy it .

My buddy has the same kind of bike . He found that he had to stiffen up the suspension cuz it felt really tippy ( also heard alot of people complain about the stock settings) .... also keep an eye on it overheating . Seems they have a bit of an issue with this . Just thought I'd let you know in advance incase you haven't heard about those problems yet.

Awesome looking picture !!!

I've taken pictures of Ute's before with my cheap digital camera , and I find my pictures of the Utilities turn out a lot better than those of sport quads . I don't know what it is , but they seem easier to get a good shot of . I think with sport quads there has to be a certain background or something . Ute's , as long as there's trees or mud , the pictures are awesome . :p

Traci was there all day Saturday, and for a short time on Sunday morning, then had to leave unexpectedly. Both Traci and Sherry were working in the booth and walking around with Cecco jerseys on when it cooled down after the rain on Saturday. The funny thing was I think Sherry signed a few autographs for people thinking she was traci because she was wearing the jersey!!!!!!

Man, I wish I could have been there, it looked like a lot of fun. I was planning on going up and riding with some people from our club, but didn't get the quad fixed in time. I will definately be there next year.
