Is it really necessary? What is the point? I know it is stronger but is it worth it? And is it hard to remove the stock one and put the new HD on in? Any special tools you need?

Unless the engine is already tore down, leave the stocker in place. When the engine is modified, $33 for a new one is cheap insurance.

No, it's not hard. If I remember correctly, you have to remove the clutch basket to replace the cam chain--no biggy if you have an impact gun. A little tougher if you don't but still doable if you have a clutch holder tool.

nope not hard at all the only thing that could be a big deal is the nut holding the clutch basket on but its easy if you got an impact wrench. note to watch the way the gears on the counter shaft go on. i cant remeber why but i think they are kind of funny i could be wrong

By your sig, you have a 2003, that means your cam chain is most likely a 3 yr old chain, now you are going to add more ponies to it with a 3 yr old chain........

I would not build my bike like that if it were me.....

Just my 2 pesos!

It can only help...can't hurt. Skimping on build options can come back to bite you eventually. You might get away with this or that but eventually you'll pay one way or another....

I think the "HD" crf chain is only $30 or $40 bucks anyway (ServiceHonda).
