e-series and heat shield

A while back I got the e-series full system. No complaints, I love it, though it did not have a place for the heat shield on the header. Is this normal? The instructions said to put it back on, but there is no way to do this.

Yup, that's normal. I melted a good pair of gortex pants in the snow last winter. You best bet it to take your pipedown to a local welding shop and have them spot weld a couple of nuts on the pipe if you want to run the stock shield.

Thanks man, I haven't had any problems so far I just think it looks better with the heat shield. My dad has over 40 log trucks and so we have our own garage, I may have one of them weld it. Once again thanks for the info.
